Guys/Gals,

I had i bit of a indecent today, while i was out wheeling on the beach, i was going a wee bit to fast, then hit some woop woops, pretty hard. Any way long story short i have a blown up shock and a BENT front diff.

So what is going to be the best/cheapest fix for the diff?

A) Get another front diff from a wreck and brace it?

B) Get the current diff straighten and brace the POS?

C) Well is there a option C???

Opinions please???

Don't even bother fucking with a bent diff. Get another and brace it so you don't do it again

option A... won't be cheap though =(

be sure that when its braced, its also braced between the spring mount and the hub - that little bit is often forgotten and is the most common place for the bend to actually occur.

surely you can save money by welding some box on yourself? theres a thread on here somewhere showing various methods of stopping it warping frrom the welds too.

Just as a ball park price DM90 paid $1000 or just over for his front diff

I've seen more Toyotas with fucked diffs, even some that have done a few 1000ks with fucked centres. Don't get a toyota.

Funny you should say that, that has crossed my mind, but it's a fair bit of fab work, in doing that conversion, if i'm not wrong??? Would i just re-use the shock mounts, radius arm mounts etc...of the jimny diff???

correct, we had our diff straightened twas like 120 bucks, as long as its not much more then 6 degree out they can usually straighten it, i told u not to drive every where so fast when u dont know the tracks

Get another Jimny diff, unless you want to jump and be brutal don't bother bracing it. This was a one of thing yes? If you do brace it, don't forget to brace the knuckles, I'm just running a truss (from centre to passengers side spring mount) and braced both knuckles, done a few rounds of Coopers Rally and Expo, jumped it a number of times and it's still straight.

yup, thats exactly where they all bend =)

hopefully its a pretty straight bend and not a radiussed one (ie bent back and up) - you might be lucky and it be able to be straightened.

verriers aint cheap but theyre very good and can brace it for you after its straightened (at a price, but its done right and will be straight after bracing) - after i bent my front i had them straighten and brace mine (then while the front was out i got suzistore to brace the rear for me which was a lot cheaper than verriers!).

his a welder he can brace it, we got drive straght in welshpool to do ours, pretty cheap and its all done buy lasers

Oh dear.

Option A, don't worry about the trussing and just don't jump it.
Finding a late model front axle hub-to-hub won't be easy but maybe an early housing will be compatible. Late hubs are different to early, mainly due to ABS additions I think.
