no when i wheeling go thruo a coupe of puddles and it gets wet and i have to dry it

i WD-40 my ignition before wheeling and dont drive through puddles.

You could wrap it in a plastic bag and tape the ends.

If you really want to get serious you could make something out of
tupperware or similar.

Shouldn't be an issue if it gets wet. Check all your connectors and their seals/or seal them

get a squirty bottle of water and start spraying each bit around the coil to identify exactly which bit is shorting it out... i reckon like JrZook said its a bad connection somewhere.

pull it out rub some ellbow grease on it then have a long weight while you hang it fron some sky hooks for a bit then fit a flux capacitor and hey presto you should be able to drive under water, but keep some Dehydrated Water in the glove box just incase you run into trouble

oldest trick is to put it inside an ice cream container and just cut a hole through the side for the coil lean and power leads. Silicone them up and then bung the lid back on the container.

Thenn also fit a washing up glove over the distributeor withat siliconed up as well.

As I said on Sunday, 2l milk bottle over it will cover most if not all of it from the splashes we were getting and it won't cost you a cent to make, music to zook owners ears

The coil is the highest part of the engine bay, how the hell do you get it wet?

he had it happen when we were going through some puddles offroad (no way of going around cos we were in a deep gully).

it also happened to him on the road though which is weird.

I have seen Sierras in water that deep they are floating, yet the engine was still running fine with no ignition problems

I've done it, being stupid though and hitting a puddle hard. Water went straight up the firewall, hit the bonnet and went straight back over the engine. Coil got wet and the shit lead I had on it arked out.

A high tension setup in good condition will work underwater.
A splash shouldn't affect it.
Your problem sounds like a cracked coil or faulty coil lead.

Keep a pack of condoms in your recovery gear bag.

If your not lucky enough to use them with a farmers daughter, you can cut the tip off and use it to cover the dizzy with the leads poking out the top.

A rubber glove could also be used.
