Hey guys
Does any one know what this problem is ?? my brakes are soft but when u pump them they go hard.

I have bleed them several times but it doesnt help at all

Leak in the braking system?
My LJ80 did this after I first got it running. Eventually had the master cylinder rebuilt as it was drawing in air through it.

maybe master cylinder? but a leak sounds likely.

Yeah i am not a lot but

I think i comes out of the filler cap though

if your not losing fluid, thats what i would start looking at, but im far from an expert on brakes...... or much at all. lol.

Ive check under the car to see if i could see any leaks but i cant see any

I would think if it was leaking bad enough to feel it in the pedal you would be topping up the res daily.

Other common place to check would be your drum brake slave cylinders on the back. Just pull the drums off, and see if there is any sign of a leak in there.

keep the handbrake adjusted up and you will be fine

clamp off 1 soft line at a time, that will help you locate problem.

whenever my brakes get spongy my rear shoes are low on meat... i go through rear shoes about every 6-9months!

x2 I just had the same issue and got new shoes and the problem was sorted.. Check rear shoes.

Having similar problem, my zook had soft brakes which got harder if you pumped the pedal a few times, one time last drive after a steep downhill they felt very touchy and firm like they should, that went away pretty quickly though. they are not leaking fluid anywhere, and i had it parked for 2 weeks and then fitted new pads on weekend in front end so pressed the caliper piston back and now they wanna go to the floor first touch you can pump them up and they feel better but soon as u drive the pedal goes to floor again. if you pump the pedal it feels like the engine wants to stall when idling. i have bled them twice now with no success.

any ideas??

rear brakes shoes. is the handbrake shit too?
