hey guys my brother just got defected in his sierra while running my road tires there 235's are they to big.

Yep, or else you wouldn't of gotten defected I think they came out with 205's as standard.

The stock tire size is 205/75R15.
215s are as big as you can go leagally I belive.
I remember somone saying the car was actually designed for 215s but they send smaller to make it more stable. the plackard says 205s if you have a metric one.

Older than year?? don't have tyre placards,
and came with taller tyres, and 16"rim options.
Some engineers will approve bigger on these.

well it's 94 sierra and i personally feel the reason is that they were just being assholes because his car is completely stock it has no mod's at all

if it had 235s on it then it was modded.

its the risk all 4x4 drivers take when we run bigger tires.

deal with it and move on.

By your own admission, it has tyres larger than the allowable size and no tyre placard.
There are 2 defects right off the bat. Need we continue?
Correct it, pay the fine and cop it on the chin.

well as i said on my first post not my car or my fine so it doesn't affect me and it is most defiantly not modded. The only reason i ask is because i read something about a national rule that was changing it from 15mm to 50mm

If Qld adopted the NCOP it would still make no difference as there is 65mm difference in diameter between a 205/70R15 and 235/75R15!

mine has 16" rims as standard, is there anything else that was different? 81 sj410

I just got done today too. 265/75r16.. No mod plate for body lift and no mud flaps. If 205/70r15 is standard what is the 16 standard.
They suzuki alloys on 96 Sierra. W/t

by my calcs that makes a 215/70 - 15 14 mm taller so yes should be legal.

And another note on this dumbass law. They go off side wall numbers not actual manufactured diameter or the diameter as the tire sits on your vehicle with x-weight and y-tire pressure......

My zook can with 215's on it and I didn't have a problem with roadworthy. Don't have any probs with the cops either. Maybe they just feel sorry for me
Just be lucky that you were only done over by the cops. Better that then being in an accident and smashing up alot of shit (or hurting someone) and then finding your going to get arse raped by the insurance company AND the cops cause your car isn't mod plated.
Yes the rules suck, but unfortunatly they are there and won't go away just cause a few people have a cry about not being allowed to run the tire size they want.

Waiting for the day they "really" start enforcing tyre laws. So many tyre places will go under, coz they'll make it illegal for them to sell them in the first place.
