Last weekend chances my clutch in my vitara. In the process, I managed to bend the dust cover. Now the cover is bent and doesn't seal correctly

What are my options to fix it?
What's the best way to keep mud out?
What has everyone else done to seal it?
Why isnt the bellhousing completely sealed to start with?

im pretty sure my "dust cover" or inspection plate is long gone... it doesn't seem to bother the clutch too much

I don't think mud would do it any good haha

If you get enough mud in the bell housing to affect the clutch you're in big poo! Don't worry about the plate

I'm sure water and mud can't do it good. Hope its fine lol
will it screw up my throw out bearing though?

Wading through deep water will cause issues with your bearing, not mud. Just stay away from mud

Would it be better to try and seal it?
Why aren't they fully sealed in the.first place?

Any bearing and water doesn't mix. It's not real necessary to have it sealed as heat and dust needs to come out somewhere.
