Hey guys, i have searched to no avail.

My headlights (glass) are really dull and foggy looking. Is there a way of getting inside and giving it a erally good clean to make it more transparent or is there legal issues with something like that?

thee get a glaze on the outside.. many ways to fix that.. but have been using a rejuvination kit that you can get from repco..

they come up pretty good.. just take your time.

I don't think Jimny's have glass headlight lens, they're polycarbonate.

If they're "dull and foggy looking" it's more then likely the surface has deteriorated or been scratched.
My second hand Jimny's lights looked like frosted glass from an
ill conceaved atempt to clean them like they were glass, but it easily fixed as tiptop said, with the right stuff and a bit of elbow grease.

I just use 800 and then 1200 wet and dry with water and then use cutting polish number 1 then 2 with my buffer. Then to finish it up nicely I just use a hand applicator with some wax (no cut). Comes up like new.

Ordinary cutters and lambswool buff the way to go. The speedshop kits are about $30.00. dreamin.

Hey Birdman, I forgot to ask, what type of globes are you running?

If they aren't designed for polycarbonate lens headlights, they will stuff your lens, from the inside out!

Which would mean new headlights - save some on shitty globes only to spend shitloads latter when your lens melt or break down.

If indeed they are glass for some reason, get some 00 grade steel wool from a cleaning shop, that'll get stains off, not scratches or sandblasting though.

it's an old trick from wayback, just remember the temp difference between Fahrenheit & Degrees.... would be piss funny to see it do the shrinky dink trick or turned to melted cheese.

Been so handy. I have a friend who owns Maitland Smash so i will see if i can get some fine graded paper so i can crack into it.

Atleast now we have a quick and easy title for headlight rejuvenation.

I just went to Auto One, to see if they had anything to restore headlight lenses...
They had stuff called, " Blue Magic " Headlight Lens Restorer for $13.56...

It says on the bottle, " Some lenses may require 3 or 4 applications, or for heavy yellowing, a light sanding with 2000 grit sandpaper first ", i think its a cutting compound of some sort, but it has something in it to prevent re-yellowing of the lens... at $13 a bottle, its worth a try, so i got some !

Sorry to dig up this thread, figured since you asked I would give you my opinions after running the Mini H1's for several months. This thread is link backed to mine (the mall cruiser 100 series guys). I have had no vibration issues since installing them. I haven't had any issues with alignment due to the added weight of the projector. I would not hesitate to put them in again. Great stuff. (not saying it because I work for them, it's the truth)

atari4x4- if we ever run across each other in the future. I will show you how the 100 Series guys wheel.


For the rest: Please let me know if I can help with anything, opening up your headlights can be a scary task, washing them can be catastrophic. I use water and dab lightly. Don't rub or use high pressure.
