hey population of AZ i have a shock question i searched around but nothing could really answer it.

i am looking at getting extended shocks front shock hoops rear shock bar and brake lines

my current shock dimensions are
Front: 16" closed 21" open
Rear: 16" closed 19" open

my question is how much longer will the shocks need to be that i get (looking at doestech 3000) shock hoops say they add 5" of length to the travel or something like that and the rear shock bar changes the angle will i need longer shocks to compensate the different angle looking at 3-4" extended shocks btw.


the way i worked it out was the front would have to be 27-28" open and rear 22-23" open would this be right?

i would just weld or bolt in all you shock hoops and shock bar, then flex the car up on some ramp to find out the ope and close length you need
or if the shockies to short add bumper stop extensions in so the dont top out.

its very hard to guestimate what you will end up with, I had a go on mine and the ordered 17.5" closed length , but you can mount the shock hoop up to 2 inches higher and lower if needed.
I still ended up cutting 1.5 inches off the hoop to make it all spoton to what I'm running. I'd mount your hoops/mountings and the bumpstops as well then order the shocks to suit.

are these measurments taken on the car??
a 16" rear shock should open to more than 19" total length , it should be more like 24-26" opening

yeah these measurements were taken off the car while flexed up. the shock hoops im looking at are the self alinging ones

Those the sky hoops? I have them and there crap i reckon. Keep in mind you will need a 2inch body lift if you dont want to trim your inner guard to fit em..

Also need to be carefull how far your front diff moves, big body shocks with a RUF will eat the bump mounts using the sky set up. Bring the bottom mount back around 30mm well your at it.

My front shocks are 383 closed, and i need a 65mm long bump to stop them bottoming out. In theory 333 closed will work on stock bumps..

You really need to stick all the bits on and flex it up to get measurements..

RUF do i need to have a ruf done to run these?

If so ill just run the stocko mounts, btw how much sag can i expect if i drop a leaf out of each pack in the bum of her?

With running new shock mounts can i expect better suspension travel? I plan to open up those clamp things that hold the spring packs together aswell.

The reasone i want more flex is because we do a lot of rut driving but im not super duper keen on the idea of a ruf

You tell me? Its a maruti clip, not that it should make a difference?


Shocks rubbing as it sits now.


I have 12mm clearance here after trimming it down. About 3mm when its at the stop. That's with the bottom pin moved back 30mm.. Diff is around 40mm forward.

you really need to move the bumpstop mount after doing a proper ruf as the shock is always too close, you can get away with it sometimes but its still too close.
and besides if you dont move the bumpstop the diff hits only the very front of the bump

its not the hoops fault

i dont know where this talk of RUF is from but im still confused as to whether or not i need to have a RUF to run these front shock hoops and if they can infact improve suspension travel

The shock hoops themselves wont do anything for your suspension, only longer springs will improve the flex.
