Hey everyone
ive had a 3 inch calmini bidy lift kit for my vitara for over a month now. ive been avoiding putting it on due to lack of experence with a job of this size. If there is anyone local to blacktown that would help me install this lift kit on my vitara That would be great you wont be working for free.. we can negotiate how much it would cost me before we start. Any advice on this would also be very helpful to me. Also im very flexible about were the job is to be done... can be done at my house ( i belive i have all the nessary tools including a welder) or at a location of your choosing.

Thanks to everyone who posts.

why have you chosen to go 3" BL? is it really needed? a 2" bl is a lot easier to do as less things need to be modified. but since you already have it, its a bit late.

when i installed my 2" bl, it took me and 2 others about 5hrs. does it come with instructions? if it does i would suggest reading them, not after when things go wrong lol. its pretty straight forward to do, but even easier when you have experienced helpers.

good luck.

p.s- we need pics, make a build thread please. :D

don't waste you time fitting the kit, it's basically junk.

with the time & effort saved in not installing the calmini crap, buy one of just_cruizin. just_cruizin

http://auszookers.com/index.php?name=Fo ... ic&t=15518

realistically the only good bits in the calmini kit is the transfer shifter extension & the fuel filler extension... oh & maybe the instructions cause there are pics.

i can fit one of just cruizin body lifts into a swb vitara in under 1/2 a day on my own, it's probably a full day or weekend job for a first time.

i'm not sure on the quality of the calmini body lift but if you have read the instructions and think you can do it give it a go i did the body lift on my old swb patrol by myself in around 4 or 5 hours and i didn t have a kit with instructions .

The Calmini body lift, is not able to be engineered in Australia due to the construction of the kit. I personally ran one of your body lifts & removed it due to backyard design of the kit.

Not being able to be engineered in AU sort of sums up the whole thing IMO.

Sorry Calmini, never had anything to do with your products, but it is pretty important to sell or buy car parts that are engineering legal.

Not everyone is looking to run "engineered" vehicles.
Look at how many cars here probably wouldn't pass engineering.

So no one should sell bigger then 35" tyres in Australia, because they aren't engineering legal?

ITs alot easier to swap a set of tyres to go over the pits than it is to pull a body lift out though dont that think?

So you should run something illegal till it has to go over the pits??
Sounds like your fine to run the 3" body lift then, Luka!!

Bucket, most vitara drivers are able to use their car as daily's coz theyre far better onroad than a modded sierra
Ask the original poster first if its a daily.

Just wondering, whats that going to change?? I ran 5" lift with 32" and a deep neg offset for ages. Not the most comfortable ride onroad but never any trouble from the popo, and I didn't run flares on the rear either.

Mine probably wouldn't pass engineering due to the body roll, but at least the bodylift would if required. the other thing is piece of mind, knowing there isn't almost twice as many fasteners attaching the body to the chassis.

The kit is made up from a collection of random parts, the polly 3" blocks at the front doesn't appear to have crush tubes, then the remainder of the captive studs are cobbled together with a mix match of parts, metric & imperial bolts, 1/2"x1/2" box section & a separate alloy spacer on top of that. You bolt the box section to the & then the spacer & stud bolt to the top surface of the box section, no crush tube or anything. As I said earlier the good bits are all the little parts that come with the kit.

Calmini Vitara Body lift looks like this.

Yep, but anything can be passed if you know where to go.

Still, getting it passed with a questionable roadworthy doesn't make the design of the kit a good thing.

I tire of you and your attitude, please point out all cases of slander in this thread.

Infact, point them out in the entire forum!

All this talk is funny,
My LWB had a 3" body lift in it for around 8 years before I sold it and it was made of box section.
It was engineered and legal.
It was made of alot bigger and stronger box section than the Calmini one but was the same concept. It had no signs of ever coming apart.

The SWB that we used to compete in had the Calmini 6" combo, no one here can deny that it was a top bit of kit and copped more punishment in its short life than most of your cars will ever see.

The body lift that Calmini supplied never failed, however what did fail was the mounts on the chassis and the body itself, both of which bent and tore to leave the car with about a 2" lift when we pulled it apart.

Its not the type of body lift that is the problem it is a body lift itself that can become an issue. Even a solid block lift is a bad idea unless you put more bracing in the body itself. If I can help it I will never put a body lift in a car again.

Hey all. Not totally on the topic but I'm thinking about buying the 3' calmini suspension lift. How is it goin on your rig? I've heard the munroe shock's that come with it can be prone to failing. Is this correct?

I don't think they are munroe shocks... they are plain White shocks that come with a calmini Sticker set... not sure where they source them from...

I have Bent one of my Front struts already. and Blown one of the Seals in the back... Not overly happy with the Shocks/Struts, but the rest of the kit is gold :) Its a great starter anyway
