hi guys got a lockright that im thinking about installing this weekend. just wondering if i put it in the front does this make it hard to steer when it locks?

That choice is up to you,
based on needs and finances.
If you can afford arb locker, great,
if not, an auto locker works ok.
Power steering would help with a front locker.

If it's a rear lockwrong then it won't go in the front

Lockrights are rubbish in the front.

If you have power steering and drive predominantly dry terrain they are fine.

They are especially annoying on descents.

I liked it in the rear more than the front.. Yes they lift wheels but if you drive it right its still effective. And to run a rear lockrite in the front you will need chromos id say.

I had front and rear, but I also had power steering.
It was way better than unlocked, and once I learnt how to control in with my foot (foot off the pedal when you want to turn) it was great, but air locker wins every time, especially on slippary downhill.

I had the Spartan that uses your side gears so there was no issue with running them in the front, it will depends which model of lockright you have.

It's VERY effective. I couldn't go back to open diffs. Just some brown stain moments from the locker

Just to bump this, if you could have one of each air and auto which ends would you choose for both?

auto rear, air front.

i drove on a welded rear for a few years and it was fine, but i can't imagine a front diff i couldnt unlock... it'd be terrifying i reckon. lol

I'd have auto lockers that could be turned off, both ends, if they existed.
I like the fact an auto can unlock, if for example,
you put one wheel over a big rock, on way down hill.

I often think about auto locking hubs,
converted to a switch in cab, could be good.

Now back to reality.
Only thing I hate is the driveline slack caused by rear auto locker.

Money, lockrights are cheap enough that if I don't like it I can get rid of it and still won't break the bank.

Want to get use to driving with lockers before I start comps. There are very few places I have found that I need a locker but I don't want the first time I use it to be in a competitive stage.

WTC, it is a local winch truck challenge. I won't be running an auto in it then I just want to know how it feels to run dual locked for a while.

I'd imagine a bit gay without options. I'm getting air before I do masters as sometimes you don't want a locker while doing some manouvers/sections.
