Hi Guys,

what could the trail tough slayer kits be like?

Has anyone got them?

The 31" & 32" tires aren't looking that exciting any more. Would love to go over 33"'s and this kit allows that. Calmini has been taking way too long to develop the same, but they aren't yet selling it.

So , what would the solid axle be like on the road? Keeping in mind this car would still be driven during the week.

Trail tough's gear is generally very well engineered and manufactured. In theory, it should be an excellent kit. Personally, I'd rather see a hilux transfer case used with such big tyres and increased traction - the vitara transfer is OK but it wasn't ever designed to deal with that much load. I'm still confused at how TT deal with the slip yokes in the vitara transfer as they only supply a replacement front driveshaft.

I cannot comment on how it would drive on the street. I'm sure it will body roll a lot more than a stock vitara, although handling might not actually be worse (it couldn't be much worse than a stock vitara) it will just feel radically different.

It would be worth discussing your plans with an engineer though. My guess is you're going to drop $6-7K in this project. The suspension will run $4K landed roughly, plus axles, diff gears ( you'll need 5.29's) Lockers, wheels, tyres, transfer gears... that's a lot of coin to have come off the road if it's defected whilst not engineered.

You might run into trouble with overall lift height, and some engineers don't like jonny joints or fabricated links, but it might all be fine.
