Hi all,

Just wanna know where would be the best spot to mount my electric fuel pump, surge tank and clacker on a SWB Tintop? I'm doing a 16b conversion. I have the cab off btw. Some pics would be great!

Mounted mine to the body. Didn't use surge tank, low presssure pump.
Tapped into the fuel lines where the original filter was located.
Used abit of old bike tube and some brackets from bunnings.

Hey thanks DMAC! Making a loop like that is a good idea because of the limited space for more than just a filter. I Wasn't too keen clamping EFI hose onto the threaded outlet of the tank so was thinking about getting a plumber to shorten the original pipe (so I can still have the lip at the end) to give me more space that way. Will most likely do it like your way now

Mine needs a BL to work, I like having the pump and filter here as its easy to change either out bush.

What pump set up is that boosted? Have you got a prepump installed or just efi pump plumbed in along the line with a filter? Do you retain the stock metal lines or upgrade them?

VL pump, stock pick-up with no pre pump. Stock hard lines, the return line has been swapped over with the carbon canister line as its larger. Pump runs reasonably quite till your on larger angles.

Thanks boostedbrick, that's how I was going to do mine as well. Did you bend back the stock outlet line from the tank or cut it to shorten it? I really think it will needs the lip hey that's why I haven't shortened it by cutting... I'm actually doing a 2"body lift and I gather that's what yours is hey? Cheers

My tank has been moved over quite allot, so didn't need to trim anything.

Im about to do the same with mine and was wondering is the vl pump the weapon of choice and if so how much do they usually cost?

It's a bosch Item. Also called a 070. They use the same in a non turbo vl as well. Brand new is about 170 genuine.

I did mine with a surge tank under the bonnet, so it runs 2 pumps. Its abit of over kill but i can run the tank bone dry. When the low pressure pump in the rear get nosiey you know you only have about 2 liters in the surge left.

People go the VL Fuel pumps because they are a external mount (not in fuel tank)

personally, i don't like the idea of having a surge tank under the bonnet in event of an accident there's the potential to have a litre or more of fuel splashing around on a hot motor/shorted battery.

Yup. Seen someone lose a r34 gtr nur spec this way. about 8 years ago. when they were proper expensive.

maybe if it was tucked away up near the firewall, but even then still scary...

so close to the battery & in that crumple zone of the front guard.

Also remember a certain magna. Was from Alice springs. Twin turbo feature car thing. Had a photo shoot in syney. 60 grand sunk into it or something. Destroyed by fire from something similar. Was gold from memory.

Didnt really think about that ,
I didnt like the idea of having too many hoses hanging up under the car where a stray stick could do some damage and waste all my fuel over the track.
