sorry mate meant to right 6 inch 2 in the springs 2 in the shackles and 2 in the body sorry mate, although still considering the SPOA conversion looks pretty easy

its not. take a look here to see how much work it is to do correctly: http://www.auszookers.com/index.php?nam ... 54&start=0

also, a 2" shackle only gives 1" lift, and is only useful if you're running a longer leaf.

as for your easy engine options, a g16b (carby 1.6) is the simplest swap.

A decent spring over can be done in a weekend without taking the body off, as long as you have a welder and grinder, and know how to use them.

The thing is you need, better shocks, better mounts, longer brake lines, extended driveshafts, or spacers, steering correction etc etc.

To do it right takes a lot of details, and a lot of little parts.

If you think it's a good idea to run shackles 4" longer than stock then perhaps the problem solving required to sort a SPOA isn't for you.

Sorry if that seems harsh but really... have you given ANY thought to how much this is screwing with your caster, driveshaft angles or rear pinion oiling? How are the rear shocks going having to bend around the rear axlehousing? Why do you even need 4" shackles? your running a 2" body lift - that's plenty of lift by itself for 31's.

A SPOA is anything but easy. Only rednecks and americans think it can be done in a weekend whilst it only takes a weekend to get the car sitting on its wheels SPOA, it can/will take months and months to get all the bugs out. Lots of people abandon their SPOA after giving up on geting the bugs out and sell the car or go down the path of coils (which are even harder to get right) before they ever really sort SPOA.

You might be a great boilermaker, but that doesn't mean you can design an effective steering or suspension part. Start with Alien's build. That's a very good example of a SPOA build that addresses all the issues.

As for engine - G16A carby or G16B EFI.

Steve.

I guess maybe I should have qualified my response a little better before i blurted out that a proper spring over can be done in a weekend.

I have experience with spring overs, and the the associated problems they can cause. I also exclusively use Trail Tough's kits when possible, which really helps get them right. For a guy who has never done one before it can take much longer than a few hours on a weekend. Sorry if I made it sound as simple as bolting on some new springs and shackles, because it is not.

IMHO
There are a lot better handling, lower riding, softer, and better performing, and less expensive suspensions than Spring over now days. (that wasn't always the case)

If you do decide to go spring over keep this in mind, every component on your vehicle from steering to brakes should be at 100-90%. A spring over will exaggerate and exploit any weak links or worn parts you may have, from worn brakes, to worn steering boxes. If your rig is not at 100% before the spring over, you will have serious problems down the track, especially with steering components.

While the above is also true whenever bigger tires are added, the springs above the axle exaggerate issues even more so.

Spring over sierra's are like the jimny's with their death wobble. A common problem with more than one cause, and hard to isolate.

I also agree that Alien's build is top notch, and a good template for a proper spring over.

Gonna get this engine in and see the difference

on the subject have many people done the G16B conversion if so How difficult would the wiring be (i've put EFI 5L in a Hilux for a mate and wired)
Just wondering if any 1 has done it and could point me in the right direction Ceers again Guys

I've done a 5L into a patrol. That wasn' too bad, but the G16B is a cake walk by comparrison.

But if you are feeling lazy, get in touch with Killer Kustom Kables. $400ish will get you a plug and play wiring harness for the G16B.

The EFI is well worth the time involved to get right. The turn-key, no warm up, any angle is so nice to have.

EFI in a Zook is also much easier to troubleshoot and fix (IMHO) than the stock carb setup. Just a volt meter and kick-fix.com will have any problem sorted in a hurry.

What he said ^^^^

Definatelly the easiest two EFI conversions would be the 1.6 from a Vitara or the 1.3L twincam from a GTi....both proven and tested.

Both have it's advantages...just depends what you like and which way you like to go (what terrain you will be driving...is it your daily....do you like to crawl or do you like to rev the shit out of it)

If you really want a 1.3 EFI I'd personally go a G13BB, they aren't great engines, but better suited to a Sierra than a GTi motor, IMO.

Of course, it ends up costing just as much money, time and effort to go the G16B, which is by far and away the best option, so why wouldn't you?

I have offered before, but not really had the time to look for them.

In the U.S. we got TBI (single throttle body) injection on almost all of our vits/sidekick/trackers, the geo metro, 91 and up seirra's and swifts. They sell from $150 to $50 american dollars complete on the Zook forums. They are MAP based, some run ECM controlled timing, and others are vacuum advance.

The parts are pretty common too, so I think sourcing most of them should be easy to find there.

The 8 valve 1.6 EFI will bolt right onto a 1.3 SOHC head, and vice versa.I used the 1.6 TBI on the 1.3 till I upgrade to a 1.6

Troll some of our for sale forums, shoot even adding in shipping I think you would be money ahead compared to a Webber or Su carb. The troque and reliability is miles better as well.

There is a swift TBI for sale by fastspec2 on Zuwharrie as we speak.

I would also be happy to forward anything if the seller won't send it direct (don't see why not shipping is shipping no matter where it goes)

Yeah you need a ben t kit or something similar. I've not done the conversion, I don't start mine till my motor gets here... but it comes with everything already. Someone on here will know all.

Cairnszook's coilpack baleno engine conversion is in good tech.

Read up on it, I've just got a donor baleno and the BenT kit, I've got a few things to get here and there (vitara reduction starter for one) and I'm going to start the conversion.
