When I ordered my clutch (exedy HD), the dude at suzisport said in 14 years he has only ever seen 20 spline shafts in a sierra and told me not to believe the aftermarket crowds that tell you there are 2 different spline counts. Has anyone actually come accross an 18 spline shaft in their sierra? Surely they wouldn't make a clutch to suit if 18 splines didn't exist? Royce, can you shed light on this? Have only had the clutch in for a day but I like it already. My 206 gti and the girlfriend's rocky have pretty firm clutches and after driving them for a while i'd jump in the zuk and just about put the clutch pedal through the fire wall. Much better now! Am keeping a spare clutch cable in the zuk just in case the rumours pan out to be true though. I have the stepped flywheel too in my 89 wt. But it is a g13a.

Making the intake system, got some silicone hoses 2 1/4" -2 1/2" was a loose fit but you could use that too.


Made a bit so I could plumb back a couple of air lines after the air filter. Fitted them then welded them. If you have the stock gti intake that would make it easier but I didnt get that with my engine..




Fuel filter under car with bracket to suit existing bolt holes.


Brackets made up for ecu to sit nicely behind glovebox.

Accelerator cable is easy, cut this much off gti cable at the pedal end... and solder the proper connection on to suit sierra pedal. ( You can get them at motorbike shops.

Does the bonnet close over that radiator?

Sure does! Its a standard sierra radiator, just brand new:)

looks sweet zookfun, will get some shots of mine when the engine is back in, but wont be until i get my clutch and flywheel sorted, so next week.

thanks for the acc cable was going to ask what people did with that.

i am really itching to get it done, i am missing out on great fishing weather, and the dunes are calling my name!

Without hijacking too far, my 95WT had the 18 spline flat flywheel gearbox in it.
The clutch is the same as a 1.3 swift / Barina, hence also why its made

sure are swift seats, cost me 100 bucks for the pair with rails. just a bit of upholstry cleaner, and new brackets in the floor, and done. heaps better for support than the original seats.

i have found that the old f10a starter motor doesn't fit. does this mean i need a g13a starter? does anyone have one for sale? also do i need a swift accelerator pedal or would the sierra g13a cable do the job with some modification?

Sorry, yours was a 1L engine wasnt it? You will need a sierra 1.3L starter motor or the GTI starter motor, they both fit

swift gti starter motor does not fit (the one i have anyway) another g13a one coming from want33s. exhaust is now built and ready to go on tonight.

slow but getting there. zookfun, which acc cable did you end up using? the one in my car is about 150mm too short for the mod you said to do. probably need to get another on, but which one did you use?

Oh, sorry, I just assumed they were both the same, I just left the starter motor from the original g13a in.. Want33s has helped me out with a few parts now too!

I used the accelerator cable from the swift gti (mk2- didnt think there was any difference between them though)- it was only just long enough, and I put it through the middle of the intake manifold if that makes sense? You should get it to fit??

my engine has 3 sensors in the back water jacket housing (thermostat housing) one is for the water temp, another for the thermo fan switch, what is th other one, and how do you work out which is which? also what do people do with the speed sensor switch, which i dont have because my speedo is mechanical drive?

the brown one is the fan switch
the blue one goes to the ecu
I had 2 more terminals on mine, one was for the temp gauge, and the other one was not used, Ill try to get a pic up if you want.

I didnt worry about a speed sensor switch, some people have done them from a swift dash. If I knew what sort of input it has (resistance, voltage, pulse etc) I would think about making one but mine runs sweet without it.

do people use a bosch 070 high pressure fuel pump for g13b conversions?

is it best to use an external inline pump, or an in-tank fuel pumps for sierra use. lots of off-road use but not extreme rock hopping involved.

any help would be great, would like to make minimum changes to the fuel tank

Swb efi vit tank, of a coily tank with a vit pickup, you can use bosch inline's like vl crumpledoor's, but you will need to run a lift pump to get the fuel to the H.p pump, thay don't like to suck.
Most will tell you you need a surge tank, I have run with out & oly had fuel surge when close to empty & cornering hard..

Im assuming you've completed the conversion since this thread is a year old.

Im assuming you used the 1.3L WT gearbox with a 20 spline?

There are 2 part for exedy clutches

SZK-6293 (this is for a 18 spline)

SZK-6474 (OME replacement for the 20 spline)
SZK-6474HD (HD version)

Im assuming you would want to use the SZK-6474HD for teh GTi conversion?
