yeah its a great spot, been there for a day or so now and i rate it highly, put a fitting there so it would run constantly and then checked for heat, its sweet as.
The latest 4wdAction mag says the heads on these compressors run REALLY HOT, (think it was like 120 degrees or something, hottest of all tested) so be aware of that.
As for noise, yeah its loud, but i can put up with it, i wont have lockers engaged all the time off road anyways. and the missus can just eat it when i am filling the tyres up.

For the guys who mounted the compressor under the bonnet. What plug/hole on the firewall did you put the wires through?

Im going to use the hole on the drivers side where, one of the main looms goes into the cab...less holes the better

I was going to suggest - toss a coin, then pick the other.
I used the drivers side bung.

I couldnt get the wires through the gromet on the drives side, was tight as.
Do you have to pull the grommet out, feed wires in then push grommet back into the hole?

When doing the wiring kits in my integra I wrapped the wires in tape until they were pointy and just rammed them through with the gromet in there, worked fine haha

use a length of stiff wire, such as a coat hanger... straighten a length out & tape you wire you want to feed to one end really well & poke the wire through the grommet, make sure you don't have any ruff end on the coat hanger that it's going to catch & tear the grommet/wiring loom etc.

the other trick is a length of stiff wipper snipper cord, that can also used to trick old arcade games into thinking you're feeding them full of coins

Tnks I'll try that. The grommet is in a pain of a spot so that doesn't help

Get biro and remove its guts.
Push biro through then wire through biro.
Remove biro off wire on cabin side.

Jimny's gave tape on the inside of them you will need to remove that first or you will just tear a hole in the grommet

2010 jimny with ABS....so that's another way to mount if you have ABS.

Yeh but had to use 2 of them to bolt the washer bottler back on....

And i will get 316 stainless bolt's instead of the painted bolt's ARB supply

Where did you guys hook up those 2 wires that go in the cab, the BLU-red (to dash illumination) and RED-YEL( to ignition)?

Hey monkey heres some pics of were i put my red yellow, you dont realy need the illumination one unless you want the light to go on when your headlights do. otherwise the light just goes on when its in use... which is fine by me.

Directly under your steering wheel there will be a bunch of wires the thick blue one is the one i spliced with the red yellow to get the power when the ignitions on! hope it works out for ya!

I'm going to add to this thread instead of starting a new one.

I installed one of these into my Vitara over the weekend. Very easy, but I think I might have air leak out of the tyre inflation fitting.

Does it matter if you install the tyre inflation fitting before the pressure switch?

Also, when you turn the compressor on, should air come out of the tyre inflation fitting?
