:P Do they still work submersed in a creek??? :P

I've seen similar in a jim, talked to the owner & they loved it...
IMO the fit was a lil off, but livable for the function's & sound..

both my Brother and my Dad have a double din gps jobby in their fourbys, they are pretty damn good for navigation etc as with a small bit of a tweak you can get it to run several different nav programs at the same time (oziexplorer for offroad, igo8 for turn-by-turn and whatever else you want), and it seems to be a similar case with ANY wince based unit.

I recently bought a rearview mirror gps unit which clips on the mirror. even that runs oziexplorer really well.

If you are keen on just navigation id look at either a mirror unit or a standalone 7" unit (running wince) you can mount on your windscreen. but if you MUST have dvd access and all the other cool stuff, go with the doubledins.

the downpoint seems to be the way you navigate around the unit, select mp3s from a big folder list etc etc, it gets a bit finnicky. but they seem to be a LOT better than the ones that were bought several years back.

Id stay away from the motorised facias also by the way.

How are the rear view mirror units? I read somewhere they suffer from glare quite badly. I've been looking around for one of these units but was a little turned off due to the glare issue.

mine seems alright, i only got it about a week ago, was 70 bucks from eBay. I did the mod to put oziexplorer, igo8 and polnav on there. and it operates like a champ. Id give you the link but im at work till wednesday.

Ive only tried it on the missus car at night, as the Jim is outta action for the moment. Only drama i can see is charging the battery for it, im thinking of just getting a 12v-5v converter somewhere and running the wire up to the interior light or even run a converter from the interior light 12v rail if room permits.

i figured for 70 bucks its worth a go. when i get a bit more disposable coin i might go for the dvd head units for a bit of bling.

PS one thing i did notice, its a hell of a lot easier to read the display than it is off the stereo, dont have to take your eyes off the road as much

Does any one know if these fit earlier models.
I seen that when you take your stereo out and the apartment thing under the stereo out it has a much bigger space. Maybe for one of these?

Zooky, these ones are specifically for the later jimny fascia, but there are lots of double DIN head units out there that'll fit in the earlier ones.
