yes 96 has 4 pinion w/t diffs
1ltr dash, the same bellhousing and g/box yoke as the 5spd
brakes are w/t but do not have a booster, 1ltr is the same but the engine mounts on the chassis need to be changed if upgrade engine later.
the flanges are n/t even though the drivelines w/t. The tailshaft is uniquely
maruti and n/t lwb shafts wont fit. If installing a 2" transfer lift the g/box crossmember sits lower so u can only get about a 1" transfer lift. Thats about everything.

oh and they are chock full of awsomeness - hells yeah :D
and all swb owners will be jealous and ritefully so

yep everything bolts straight in except the 1.3 radiator but its just a matter of drilling a couple of holes and spacing the brackets a bit.
As for engine mounts u can just use a flat bit of 10mm plate with 4 holes drilled in it that will save u having to grind them off and replace them with 1.3 mounts.

I have a Maruti with a 1.3l, im going to bung in a 1.6l.

Why go to the hassle of the change for only a 1.3l, more bigger more better.

96 maruti is a 4spd 1ltr that puts out a whopping 30kw at the engine
so 1.3 5spd is still quite a worthwhile upgrade

lol I agree 100%, but just thinking, not much difference in effort required to do a 1.3l exchange as a 1.6l exchange is all.

The bigger torque in teh 1.6l is worth it me thinks.

Too True.

Most 1.6l cabys I have seen are around the 400 mark, ok, injected are much more tho.

I have 2 1.3s, both will be given away or stripped and dumped.

If wanted, Can't lift the transfer in the maruti as it has a crossmember above the front of the transfer. (can always cut crossmember and reroute)

They also seem to have weaker sheet metal. Mates one was 96? And the body mounts at the firewall for the bonnet were cracked..

lifted the transfer in my 96 maruti using just cruzins kit
but he modified it to suit but only just over 1" lift and needed slight hammer work on the crossmember.

Was the transfer above the bottom chassis line?

Only reason for 1.3 rather than 1.6 is i have one already thats in the middle of a rebuild. Will do 1.6efi at some stage when i can spare $$$.

Plans; Replace running gear
Paint
2in springs or SPOA, not decided yet
33in muds & power steer
6.5s
Mini spool rear, air locker front
Bar work, maybe exo
1.6 EFI
Broke and divorced lol
