Hi folks
just installed trail gear 6.5:1 gears now have a whine in all ranges.
not real bad but annoying. Seems to be more obvious when you engage the clutch.
any ideas
thanks
Martin

Welcome to crawler gears mate.
It's normal.
I assume you put new bearings in?

Absolutely normal. I changed the oil in mine after 500km's just to clear out all the fine gritty crap. Was a little bit better after the oil change, but still noisy

They also will quieten down a bit after a few thousand kms. Do as Rusho said, change you oil after 500kms, I would also rechange it after a couple of thousand as well.

did the oil change at 500klms. then put an additive in after another 100klms as I read it on a few forums that it would help. It did make a small difference. Worth it in my opiniom.

use oil rather then wine, doesn't matter if it's red or white wine oil still works better.
The higher the ratio the worst it gets, you'll learn to luv it.

Be aware with the 6:5's some whine, and some out right howl. The difference ins a slight when you can live with, but kind of loud, the second being too loud to have a conversation or comfortably listen to the radio.
If they are beyond what is acceptable, then you have a bad set, or the box needs to be shimmed. Most vendors get these out of china, and their quality control has gone to shit in the last two years. So some gears are livable, and some are just way to f-in loud.

Hi All
Just fitted 31 kl1's. And had a friend come for a drive, he could hear the noise but could not understand my concern. I guess I am getting too old
and like my father worry about everything.
Thanks for the replies,
( I build coffins and am not far from needing one)
