I'm going to test out my new cheapy Chinese GPS in the bush,
before deciding if I need to spend more money, or learn new mapping software.
If I can store favorite co-ordinates and see track names,
that will be good enough for me.

Though pretty maps is tempting

it uses google maps, bing terrain etc...

and you can pre download the maps so you don't use data whilst wheeling, a pretty decent app

Hey man,

I run it on my android tab with that free Ozi app (Same as you do from another thread im pretty sure)
I use that other app to download more maps ect..

But on that App, Can you "Track your Track" so it shows where you have been? and can you save it and use it on other Ozi's?

I am now running ozi ce on my cheapy $85 ebay gps.
Using some free maps from festy.com.
Quite happy with it so far.
The free maps are ok for zip, but don't name tracks, tho a lot are marked.
I will buy some ozi maps for it in number 3 formatt later.

Buy a navman GPS. hack it with pocketmio, install OziCE. Done.

works better than my previous chinese gps due to the "proper" LCD screen that navman uses. and cheap too (was 60 bucks)

Yes, my touch screen is less than effecient, but I'm happy.
Next gps will be a better one, but this will do fer now.

for sure mate, My old boy has the same setup. Screen isnt great but its more than sufficient to get the job done. screw spending big bucks to get a VMS system and the like

Couldn't park safely round here with any expensive in the car.
Mud, dust, sand, dirt and off road vibrations make an expensive unit a bad idea for me, too
