Guys....

Looking into totally removing the Charcoal Canister in the Vitara.....Can this be done without any side effects ?? Is it just a matter of blocking off the small Hose (Vacuum Hose I assume) and putting some sort of Filter/Breather on the larger hose that goes back to the Fuel Tank?

I'm wanting to make a little room in the engine bay & I'm not sure what exactly this Charcoal Canister does.... can anyone enlighten me as to what it does ???

I assume it helps with the fuel tank breathing..... is this correct?

Here's some Pics of the fuel charcoal canister

It collects fuel vapour from the tank, as it gets warm etc.
The carbon condenses the fuel, which is then sucked into the engine to be burn't.
Hence its part of emission control and economy.
As you say, its also lets air into tank, so fuel can be sucked out.
Its height is important.
I moved my Sierra fuel tank,
and when parked, carbon cannister would syphon out my tank.
I moved it up higher.
No idea if its kooked into efi signals or not.

I removed mine completely when I did the 1600 conversion in my Samurai. It uses an aftermarket computer. I haven't noticed any problems with running, tuning or economy.

Ur meant to have one for all the epa bullshit i think so i would maybe think about moving it rather than removing it as u might get busted by the jacks if they notice it gone
