Most 7.50 16's are flat out being 31's.

6.00 X 2 plus 16" = 28"
7.50 X 2 plus 16" = 31"
Having said that though, ply tyres are usually a bit taller than advertised.

Hey- Joe, I am pretty sure these lug tyres are crossply as there is no "R" in the tyre size, like the 7.50R16 you show above.

Any idea what the 7.50 x 16 (6 or 8 ply crossply) lug tyres are going for- I will be looking for 5, with tubes and flaps to go onto split rims pretty soon, so if you are getting prices- please let me know of any results, I was almost about to order a set of MRF tyres- but thier 12 or 16 ply rating was turning me away.

As a side note- any idea what the speed rating is on these tyres?- to rego a 4wd in W.A. the tyres must be rated for at least 140km/h.
Any less and it wont pass the pits.

thanks mate,

stephen.

I haven't gotten any prices yet but i think ill go with these, they are a 6 ply and are DOT approved so there will be no problem with rego

I went to a local tyre mob (they solely do 4WD tyres and some AG stuff too) a while ago.

The guy called half a dozen suppliers and no one could get them.

Interestingly, they all had the "modern" interpretation of the bar tread with wavy lugs, like so. Even going through the various tyre manufacturers catalogs, every manufacturer had these listed.

Oh and I found this picture, it put quite a bit of stress on the zip of my jeans.

Are these in a modern compound? Someone mentioned on one of the forums they got some new bartreads and they drove like a dream on the road compared to the ones from years gone by.

The old inch sizes are based on 105% aspect ratio, so that's 6.00X2+5%=12.6"+16=28.6", For example.

He was a bit of an arse to me so I've decided not to get them off him. :/

And joe, free LJ rims!! Just thought if you need spares. I'd grab them if I was closer.
