ok so ive got this new jimny(well its a 99) but the seats are uber uncomfortable, theres like these bars running vertically down each side and they dig into my back every corner i go around. so i want to get a new pair, what will fit right in? or how hard is it to fit something non suzuki? plus i guess its got to be pretty thin. any input would be much appreciated.

you considered going to the wreckers and checking out a newer jimny?

the latest models have pretty nice seats.

they 'should' bolt straight in...could be wrong

we scored a set of good condition stratos seats, had to make complete new rails but was pretty simple and made it so much nicer to drive in,

Or look for a set of wrx seats, there super cumfy expecially off road

I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion, but the drivers seat in my WRX (07 STi) lasted one week before it was chucked. I think they are TERRIBLE. They are what someone thought a "racing seat" should feel like, probably without ever having sat in a real one.

I wouldn't bother with chasing later model Jimny seats - they'll be similarly uncomfortable to what you have now.

Other seats can be made to fit, but there's always going to be some fabrication involved. There's broadly two ways to go - bolt a new seat to the jimny slides, or make new bases to suit new slides.

Yeah I'm interested too. When I bought my 2000 Jimny, every one I looked at had those same virtical bars jabbing you in the back. Surely not everyone is just putting up with it... are they?

Does anyone know of seats from any other car that fit?

Or can anyone confirm if the newer Jimny's seats fit straight in?

I have a 2009 Jimny and I am perfectly happy with the seats. Have not been on a really long trip yet in it but they are much better than the Landrover Defender seats. Maybe I am starting from a low base?

The main thing I hate about mine is that they're vinyl... haha

The get majorly hot once the sun has been on em for a while.

How much fab work would you need to do to get a Swift GTI seat in it? Something with a bit of edge to hold my lard ass in would be great.

The jimny slides are a part of the seat so to utilise them literally means destroying the seat, fabricating cross bars welding it all together and then mounting your chosen seat, not a fun job but it can and has been done, also carefully measure your available width(top and bottom) before choosing the seat.

I think 99-05 seats are more comfy than 06-11. Later model seats look better too.

What if i bought some Swift GTI seats and then took them to a metal fabricator...

Reckon they'd knock up some slides or some way of adapting them for me?
