Hey guys, I was doing my wheel bearings and when connecting everything back up, the metal break line fitting wouldnt screw back into the backing plate.. so I pushed on it with a screw driver whilst turning it.. it went in on a angle.. I stoped straight away, and tried again, It wont screw in straight, goes in on a angle all the time.. I think the metal line is a little bent that goes into the backing plate break cylinder...

Has anybody got a spare metal line I could buy? ITs the shorter one that connects to the braided break line!

If that dosnt fix it and the backing plate is stripped aswell then I will need to grind my NEW bearings off, to slid that backing plate off.. buy new backing plate and wheel bearings too

Take it off and take it to a brake line shop. will cost about 30 for them to make up a new one.

You dont want to lose your brakes when you need them so dont do the dodgy way

firstly, if you have cross threaded the female thread you don't have to cut you bearings off again etc.. see those 2 bolts in the first pic, they're the bolts for the wheel cylinder. thats what would need replacing if the thread is buggered. easy job.


But it might not have come to that yet going by the pics. those lines are reasonably flexible, you should be able to give it a little tweak here and there (at the bends further back preferably) to get the line to sit better so the nut lines up squarely and threads in straight. also try loosening off the wheel cylinder bolts so you can move it around a bit to get the thread started.

but whatever you do, be careful not to kink the lines. the slightest of kinks and pull the line off and get a new one made.

if all else fails and the threads are stuffed, get a new wheel cylinder. remove the brake line and take it in to somewhere like enzed or pirtek, they'll make one on the spot for you and probably wont cost more then $20.

Thanks heaps guys, I wasnt aware that the thread was apart of the wheel cylinder.. Jimbo jones just told me that then, I am not as pissed off now!
