Hey all,

Been looking to get a hard top for my 1992 Vitara to replace its current soft top as I'm concerned stuff may be stolen from the boot of my car since only a zipper separates thieves from my stuff. There's only one place online I've found but they're in the USA and there's no mention of international shipping.

Does anybody know of any Australian retailers which sell hard tops? I would build one myself however I'm not the most handy of people...

Cheers.

I wouldn't buy one for security, I could pop the glass out of the side window in about 5 seconds flat...

Okay. Scrap that then. I want it 'cause I think they look cooler/manlier? xD

Also, remind me not to drive around in Perth then, if that's what you crazy people do for fun down there! xD

I bought mine due to the extra security they give. Anybody can open a zipper and wouldn't think twice about it. You wouldn't even know if it is their car or not if you saw someone.

Unfortunately you are shit out of luck though in regards to buying one. Can get them from the US as you've already found out but you can count on $2k minimum.

Best chance is to wait until you find a vitara getting wrecked that has one fitted and buy the whole damn thing. Usually if they are selling the hard top seperately they know its as rare as hens teeth and charge accordingly.

Just bolt a toolbox to the floor.

I was thinking about getting a decent sized tool box and bolting it to the floor... With a big mofo padlock...

Probably the cheapest and best option right now.

I did it in both my Sierras, the one that had the built in twisty lock you could lock without the key was great.

The tec-screwing it to the floor instead of bolting wasnt,
All my stuff went missing in one go.. all I was left with were some small, slightly deformed screw holes.

Use more than 2 tec screws or bolt it in.

What I'm thinking is padlocking (as well as padlocking it to lock) it to the floor, so if I ever need to take the toolbox anywhere I can just unlock it...
