So I was happy yesterday as I finally got the head on my g16b all torqued down and ready to roll.
This morning I discovered in one of my bags of engine bits that there was two locator pins for the head that I haven't put in.... :? :x
I should have realised when I was lining all of the bolt holes up

So my question today is.... will it adversly affect my engine, and should I take the head off put the pins in - having to buy a new gasket in the process?

Any help would be appreciated, I'll be sulking in the corner...

You have answered your own question. You just don't want listen to the answer, which is yes on both counts.

Yes the dowels need to go in and you will need a new head gasket.

Picked up a head gasket this morning. $19.00 8O

At least the second time round it will be quicker and you will never forget them again.

Cheers DMAC, I thought this would be the case... was hoping it wasn't.

Did you happen to pick that gasket up here in Aus, or was it from LROR?

Bought it over the counter this morning. :P

Bought Inlet and Exhaust manifold gasket, Head gasket $27.00 in total.

Went to Bursons and they couldn't supply all of them and suggested I go to Pro Torque gaskets who supply Bursons. Guess where I'll be going to first next time. (Located Brendale North of Brissie)

I was expecting around $60 - $70 mark.

So my head gasket finally arrived, and I have put two locating dowels in the block, but if memory serves me correctly i'm pretty sure that there was three of them?

Does anyone know this off the top of their head please, as there appears to be provision for three.

Cheers
