Think its along the lines of the bit that says no welding on chassis rail flanges and sections saying do not weld

plus why would you, whole lot stronger to wrap around the rail than lever in the middle of one side

I was under the impression the even with a car it has to be a qualified or some one supervised by said welder.

I do lot's of structural weld's at work, but only cause we have a boily on the payroll...

I would get it done at work.
I thought clamp around chassis would be weaker? As it could work it's way loose or move over time and start crushing your chassis.

It's a good setup. It's still holding up.

But, the more common way of mounting sliders is better i think.

What I should of said is it illegal for anyone to weld on fish plates for slider. So I assume Royce said it was illegal cos he thought I would do it.
I would take the car into work and get one of the boilys to do it for me, but What would be the correct engineering practices.

I never asked that many questions. Thats why I use bolt on mounts now. There is next to zero chance of upsetting the authorities.

that is extremely tidy , the weld there is probably stronger than anything in the whole car . I know an engineer who would sign that off and would put a nice shiny blue plaque in your engine bay...

Yeah my mate Scotty is an awesome welder. Was showing me how to weld and demonstrating without a helmet, he did a perfect bead with his eyes shut.

Where the fuel lines are, i put the bolt's on the out side of them

As for the clamps.... i made them!

It's a bit late but yes you can weld onto a chassis, as long as you're a coded welder and you can get it engineered.
