I found out about one weakness in the Jimny the hard way. On the track between Dalhousie Springs and Hamilton Homestead in South Australia I heard a bad noise as we went through a muddy creek crossinbg. Got out to find this.

Removed the rear shock and drove 150km to Oodnadatta. Ended up getting a free ride to Coober Peddy. ARB sent up a replacement shock and we were on the road the next day.



Lesson learnt is to make sure you use loctite on these bolts which have no spring washer on them. Looking at the Jimny bits web site much later I see they have a few solutions for this which involve drilling out the thread and fitting a long bolt with a nylock nut. Probably not a bad idea but mine are all threadlocked now.

These will stop it from happening again mine were always coming loose but once i got these no more issues plus you get 35mm more down travel

I had the same problem, as I mention a few threads down. I lost one, broke one and another one was loose today, all in a months driving.
I was advise not to locktite them in but to put a spring washer on instead.

I now have some spare bolts but I think the Jimnybits solution is worth a look for the long term. From now on I will check these bolts regularly. Nothing else broke though and we were on some pretty rough roads. This was a shake down cruise for the Simpsonm crossing next year.

Zooky08, just read your post. I will keep an eye on them and think about a spring wahser then. Might need to carry and easyout also in case one snaps. It was pretty nerve racking driving without one shock over those roads for such a long distance.

Any Fastener place but they likely won't have the same head size, but it will get you out of trouble.

I have been trying to find an 'automotive' fastener supplier. I haven't looked hard.

Drill inside thread out and putt a bolt through with a nut.

Those bolts are only a few dollars each from any Suzuki dealer.
