I carry my cordless rattle gun and while it may sound excessive it saves alot of time

I know a few people that do, and if you have the room - why not?

Having a battery rattle gun can save alot of energy (especially if your as unfit as I am! ). Last time I saw one used was when someone brought a set of spare wheel spacers for someone else to use for the weekend. Taking 4 tyres off and chucking the spacers on and the wheels back on without a rattle gun would have been a lot larger of an effort.

Look... I've never met you before...

If you've got a problem with something I've said on the forum somewhere feel free to give me a PM.

Theres really no point being a keyboard warrior on a public forum.

Not sure how to deal with braided lines though?

Steve.

Have done it on braided lines before without too many dramas, they sprung back roughly into shape and were still usable.

The toolbox itself a 50 cal ammo box.

Inside is pretty much whats on steves list. (Fits most things)

No wiring crimps, wirring fittings etc, just a spare bit of wire.

Instead of the small file, I carry a small pocket knife (with a file on it).
Instead of hammer, I carry a hatchet.

In a pinch could rig up a test light using the courtesy light, or pulling a side indicator.
I have a voltmeter fitted to my dash, and could pull that too, if I had to.

I carry a wheel brace, but am questioning why, I have the sockets etc in my tool box.

Only take engine oil, in a pinch I would use that in a diff or gear box, and just take it easy.

The extras over steve that I carry,
I carry a tyre repair kit, and air hose, with air gun (compressor is fitted under bonnet).
Jumper leads.
Some xfer mounts.
Automotive bog

I believe we should all be on top of our maintenance, and know the condition of our radiator and cooling hoses.

I carry those things too - my list was a "starter" list to ensure that it was possible to keep a car moving on a trip.

Do you mean JB weld or Quicksteel? I assume you aren't taking body filler on a trip

This is a very bad idea. When you crimp off a rubber line the fabric braids inside the hose are pliable and will spring back to shape with no problem. But when you do it to a steel braided hose the braids kink, compromising the strength and working pressure of the hose, making it most likely to fail under extreme pressure like in an emergency braking situation.

The fact that your lines only "roughly came back into shape" is proof that the steel braids are damaged.

Don't take risks when it comes to youbrakes.

That is probably true however I would be more concerned about the safety of a vehicle whos brake pads randomly fall out of their own accord, then of my braided brake lines failing to a point where I am unable to pull the car up.

Both are equally as dangerous. If your brakeline does fail it won't just leak a little, it will burst and you will have NO BRAKES.
