Hey guys,

Had enough of Suzuki workshops trying to get money out of me on the phone today. I'm doing my Rocker cover GSK and fan belt on the weekend at home but would like to know when the major service is required for a sv420??

I called a few genuine Suzuki workshops to find out but they just try and get me to bring the car in. So any one have an idea on the servicing intervals? they say every 5k which is an amusing way for them to make money in my opinion. I service my car but will take it in for a major, shes done about 90k

Thanks

The service intervals are in the owners manual for the minor & major services, I dump my oil & filer every 5k using Nulon Oil Flush & at 160,000kms I still have no timing chain rattle on start up.

The book says Normal operating conditions every 10,000, severe which most people do minors every 5,000 KM.

Severe is considered, towing, stop start driving, dusty conditions, extreem temp driving.
Normal is starting your car and driving for 20+ minuits so it gets warm without too much heavy trafic.
All Cars have intervals similar, manufactures do it this way to attract the fleet buyer who only look at doing the min they have to, if you ever get a chance try read a current Falcon, they dont even have clearly when to change coolant.

Im definately normal operating conditions, dont even have a tow bar anymore since it kept scraping the ground on :D

I just cant justify replacing my engine oil every 5k when it still looks like it did new.

I guess current car companies are all under the impression that that every service will be at the dealership.
