Apart from the spring rates and load rating what are the phisical differences between the GV and XL7 rear springs?

The only thing i have discovered so far, is that the XL7 are slightly longer and give a bigger lift if put in a GV... someone here said the XL7 rear springs fit loosely if fitted to a GV, but i asked the mechanic at Suzistore about XL7 springs going into a GV, and he said it was no problem...

hmmm. Im tepted to fit some to the back of my GV as it needs a little more height at the back......might have to do some more digging.



If they sit loose then you can slide gargen hose over the lower coils

Same here.

From what i can put together the spring seat on the XL7 diff is a little different to the GV (the whole XL7 diff is different to the GV), but the top mount pretty sure is the same. I'm not 100% sure of this though, can't find a decent pic of an XL7 diff to compare.

What have you got in the rear at the moment?

Not sure how much help this will be as I have not seen rear springs for either with my own eyes - yet, but the ironman catalogue has specs for it's springs

GV
end ID's = 62/80 (mm)
wire diameter = 12.5mm
XL-7
end ID's = 63/96 (mm)
wire diameter = 14mm

Those specs indicate that the XL-7 spring might be a fairly good fit at one end but a bit loose at the other (not sure which end is which)

Without spying it, I'd be a little concerned with the lager end not sitting on the perch properly and maybe hanging over the sides. That'll depend on the OD of the perch tho.

Might have to see if i can borrow some to do a test fit on the spare rear housing i have here.

I contacted the mechanic at Suzistore, he is gonna measure up the stock XL7 and GV springs, and the rear spring mounts at work today, and will get back to me this arvo, as he has access to all of it...



Edit: Unfortuantely, the XL7 springs and mounts he thought were there, had been sold... so no measurements...
