Hi All,

My son's '94 JLX (G16B) has a rooted diff. I have come into posession of a battered old '92 JX (G16A) but which has a good rear diff. My question; can I just stick the JX rear diff into the JLX as is (ie: do they have the same ratio)?

I am a bit of a noob to the Zook scene so any advise that wise heads can give me would be gratefully received

are they both manuals?

If they are both carby manual or both carby auto they will have the same ratios.
All manuals: 5.12:1
Auto (3 speed, G16A Carby) 4.6:1
Auto (4 speed, G16B 16V) 5.12:1

People often fit different diff ratios.
So it is wise to spin them, and check the actual ratios.
May need to use front and rear diffs, to match ratios.
Though in 2wd would not matter, as a temporary fix.

Thanks for your reply. Yes they are both manuals, however, the jlx is fuel injected the jx is carby. Does that make a difference to the rear diff? I don't think either car has been modified from standard. I have measured the JLX and the ratio is 5.12:1 as you say. I just gotta measure the jx diff now
