From these dimensions, you can assume that the LWB efi and SV tanks will bolt to the same mounts. But you will need about 850-900mm between your chassis rails to get an SV tank in.

Thanks, that information is fantastic! Though it does confirm I will not fit an SV tank between the LJ rails . Might have to go with the smaller tank...

The 55L LWB tank may fit.....

But my concern with that tank in a SWB is the lack of fore/aft room between the diff and rear x-member. The SWB vit tank is much shallower in this respect.

For an off road driven sierra / LJ, I reckon the LWB 1.6 tank would be better than the SV tank though, as its a much shallower tank, giving better ground clearance.

Woops, sorry its a trayback LJ81 Ground clearance is a secondary priority over capacity for this car also.

I have a 55L Estate wagon tank here I have borrowed. It will fit with the removal of one cross member (2 at the back anyway), and a new one placed over the rear diff for mounting brackets. Bottom of the tank should sit about the same height as the stock tank. Biggest issue is routing an exhaust, and maybe the fuel filler (though I think I have a solution for the filler).

I was just asking about the SV tank, as I hoped if the 55L tank could be made to work, the SV tank would work also.... but it appears not so...
