Hey guys ok this is hard to explain but when I let the clutch out on my sierra it gets to a point then quickly engages which makes it sound and feel like im dumping the clutch its very annoying when taking off but fine after that

Ive jacked the back up and i can see when i let the clutch out the whole back axel looks like its trying to jump out when the clucth it let out.

Just wondering why is this happening, and is it normal?

How old is the clutch? Also, if oil or grease gets onto the friction plates it can cause the clutch to 'grab'.

not too sure shoe its probably old, are there any adjustments i can try at all?

the only way i can calm it is have really high revs when taking off and its even worse when the headlights are on because that increases revs and then when i take off its drops soo bad

No, there's some adjustment in the cable but it will only change the point in the pedal travel that the clutch grabs, not how hard it grabs. You may have to remove the engine or gearbox to find the problem.

Another slim possibility is that the cable could be sticking a bit but you'd be able to feel that through the pedal. If the pedal does feel rough or 'notchy' you could try greasing the cable.

ok thanks shoe how hard is it to remove the cable and grease it?

You have to pull the concertina boot off the clutch end of the outer cable and pack as much grease into it as you can then just pump the pedal for a while. Repeat until pedal feels smoother. You'll probably have to zip tie the boot back on.

If the pedal already feels smooth it's probably a waste of time, more likely that the friction plate is contaminated.

Could also be a button clutch, did you install the clutch? If it's pink there's your problem, HD clutches usually engage like that....

No i didn't install it and i don't know about pink bits (on my car ) but yeh i can live with it I just don't want it to be doing damage to anything by clunking so hard
