Hey guys,

Firstly i'd like to say that after a solid session of searching this forum I'm still no more convinced that I will make the correct decision than I was when I started

My predicament is this:

I have just purchased a set of 235/75r15 KM2's from Tirerack and now want them fitted to some wheels.
I have a 1990 SWB Vitara that is completely stock and 'unroadworthy' so I cant drive the bloody thing to the tyre shop for them to have a look at... One shop I went to recently was unwilling to help me anyway as "235's aren't supposed to go on those cars"...?

So pretty much i'll have to know exactly what i'm after before I take my tyres in and hope for the best when I try and fit them at home.

From what i've gathered from searching F100 rims with -13 offset seem to be the go? I'm just a bit skeptical because a lot of the conversations are to do with Sierras or rigs that have some sort of lift and not sure how good of a comparison that is for my stock Vit.

that size tyre on a -13 7 inch rim will scrub the tyre on the back of the wheelarch at the front along with hit the guard lip at the rear

A big hammer will fix the front, a bumpstop spacer will fix the rear

Youll also need about a 50mm flare to cover the tyres

I cant tell you what the magic size and offset that fits is but I believe stock rims and that size tyre fit ok

If I had a body lift would that solve the scrubbing or am I destined to hit at my vit with a hammer?

I wanted to avoid using my stock rims but I guess if that's the easiest way out ill just have to put up with the faded gold look...

When mine was stock height with a 15x7 rim 235/75 would fit with a -6 rim, but would hit the top of the guard if I went offroad. They will stick out so you will need 50mm rubber flares.

Between 0 and +12 would be perfect for stock height with 215/70... probably more towards the +12 if you want to be 100% sure that the tyre will sit behind the guard.

You will definately need a -6 to -13 offset for the 235/75, -6 will fit and not stick out too much, but not sure whether they will hit anything when the suspension is fully compressed.

To fit the 235/75 will need to get a lift if you plan on not scrapping your tyre on the top of your guards every bump.

I'll go with the 15x7-13 and see what happens. Fingers crossed! Ill update here with the results once fitted.

Going to be hammers involved any way you look at it. A body lift AND hammer will only alleviate the obvious outer guard issue but it's not going to fix anything if you're scrubbing wheels on the inside i.e. on your suspension.

With -13 I doubt it will hit any suspension. With a 275/70 and -6 I have heaps of room.

you cant hit the suspension on a Vitara

A bodylift is an overkill way of doing it but yes it will solve the problem, though its not that much hammering

I run 31x10.5 on 15x7 + 10 and there fine
Stops them getting in to the guards so much
anything more then 25 mm track increase in nsw is illegal

Just a quick update in case someone else needs the info, I ended up putting a set of 15x7 with -10 offset wheels on and have no scrubbing while doing daily driving. I'm yet to test it offroad but I was surprised to see just how much room I had under there, I was expecting the wheels to be a lot closer to the body so hopefully it won't be too bad!
