Had spotlights fitted (by me) for some time now. Never had issues.
But on way back from Kalgoorlie at night (about 6 hours) both globes blew in spotlights. any idea why?
I have a fuse box installed inbetween relay and battery as you can see here. The fuse did not blow
Do I need fuse after relay as well??

I realise spotties were on for potentially hours at a time, then flicked on and off during towns...sooo

Are they mounted securely, like on a bull bar, as they wont last long if they have any movement or can vibrate around, by mounting on a flimsy surface... maybe a pic of where they mounted... what Amperage wire did you run to the spotties... maybe a stupid question, but are you sure the globes have blown, and its not just a loose wire somewhere ?...

Having the fuse before, is always the best way... having a seprate fuse after, for each spottie, like if you have 4, can be a good idea, at least you know which one is playing up, if there is a problem, but not really necessary...

not a stupid question....I thought it may have been wiring or relay...but I checked globes...both goneski

Ok... could just have been a bad batch of globes, but if you have a pic of where and how the spotties are mounted, post it up...

maybe the bulbs were just at the end of their life and a big 6hour burn was the nail in the coffin? i had my headlights do similar years ago - pretty sure they were the factory globes though so they'd have seen a shitload of action before dying - but one side went before the other, both within half an hour of driving.

IMO go buy some cheap-ass replacements and run them as long as you can to see if they blow... if not then you can go splurge on good globes again (i suggest philips, i've had way more luck with them than narva).

did they both go when you turned them on?

I had a dodgy alternator that managed to blow both spotlight globes at the same time when I flocked them on and a separate time both low beams when I turned the lights on

when i built my house we put new globes in the day we moved in all the same brand (philips) and most 60 or 70 watt, the weird thing is that a few years later nearly all the mianly used lights all blew within a one month period.
maybe they had just seen out their hour rating?????

I had a pair of Narva +60's or something globes last no more than 3 hours before both low-beam filaments blew. That was at the start of crossing the Nullabor, so I swapped in a pair of handheld spotty globes that I had in the toolbox (100/130W) and they were fine the rest of the way. No idea why they both died ... it was within about half an hour of each other too.
