Do you want more power or torque?? Why not a 1.6 EFI Vit engine?

To be a legal conversion YOU NEED TO WORRY ABOUT THE WEIGHT.

Most do the g16 swap out of a vitara. More torque at lower revs than the GTI from what I hear but I have a feeling it's not the kind of jump in power you're after.
If you do a search on here you'll find guys that have run the CA18, 4age and 4agze. I can't remember if it was on this forum but there's been a bit of talk about SR20DETs too. Go to your engineer and see what he will allow. Simple as that. Apart from the G16 they'd all be a massive pain in the butt to fit.

running larger than stock tyres?
maybe look at buying transfer gears first.... cheaper & smarter than doing another engine swap.

If it's power you're after then a turbo GTi setup makes more sense in a Sierra than in a swift as swifts have weak boxes. I've been in a turbo GTi Sierra and honestly it's down right scary, way more power than a Sierra ever needs.

Depends how deep your pockets are you can pretty much do anything
Whichever way you go, the engine will need to be engineered Most of the engines you spoke about will definatelly need new engine mounts, probably gearbox mounts too as well as custom tail shafts etc etc Wiring and misc bits and pieces and you won't get much change out of $5K
Why not just turbo the GTi engine if it's already engineered?!
Another thing to keep in mind is running too much power through the sierra drivetrain isn't such a good idea That means beefed up axles, centre's uni's etc.....costs just keep adding up....

Heaps stronger than a GTi box, and option to run some strong auto's too. I've often dreamt of a trimatic backed turbo GTi powered Sierra drag car, no transfer, Hilux diff, easy 11's I reckon probably 10's with some gas.

Is it geared right? If so, you must have the best handling Sierra ever because 100hp should be enough to be scary.
If you need ore than 100hp in a Sierra you might need to trade to something bigger- the Sierra drivetrain isn't going to live long with more than 100hp/ turbo torque in front of it.

I've often dreamt of a trimatic backed turbo GTi powered Sierra drag car, no transfer, Hilux diff, easy 11's I reckon probably 10's with some gas. Hmm my turbo GTi runs a standard GTi gearbox with a phantom grip lsd in it. I've ran anywhere between 10-22 pound through it, including the complete 2008-2009 drag season, making every meet, and the only problem I ever have/had was bearing failure (big deal, common fixes for bigger input bearings), and the cross pin coming out of the centre. That was due to too many one wheeler burnouts, causing the cotter pin in the cross pin to snap, letting the cross pin come out @145 km/h and lunching my clutch and inside of the 'bellhousing' area of the box. With a locker in it now, no dramas. I know those boxes inside out. They are absolutely identical to a barina box, except the final drive ratio is different, and an extra bolt webbing on the casing itself, they certainly aren't that weak, considering the raping I give and expect of it. Sierra gearboxes, hmm I've broken a couple now, standard motors in front of them, mate had a 4a/7age hybrid thing mated to a sierra box, and fcked them out all the time. They certainly aren't a strong gearbox with more power. But on a positive note, your dream you often have, I am surprised that their isn't alot of 2wd Sierra's floating about, with a nuts drivetrain in them.

my problem is most likely my gearing is out but my speedo is only out by a 2-3 kms i have just put in 3.9 diffs out of a coily front and rear just centers and now i have put on some 30'' tyres driving around town is fine but when i get on the highway and there is a hill or head wind i have to back to 4th then i can do 90kms so i was thinking something with more power would be good i didnt think TC gears would make that much of a difference

You can put gears out of a coily into a leaf sierra, if yors was a 1.3 to begin with it already had 3.9 in it
Youve also not mentioned your transfer gearing, stock gearing with bigger tyres will alsways suck with a little engine, mo matter how cool they were in 1992

I've got a few mates with worked GTi's and all of them have habgearbox dramas, the one turbo one of the three did 5 boxes in 6 months before he got the shits and sold it. On Redline GTi people don't seem to share your faith in the stock boxes haha. That said, a trimatic is standard fitment in an auto Sierra and they can be built to handle about 400-500hp, a custom converter would be needed though. End hijack.

Suzukis will never be a fast car. however a geared gti sierra on decent rubber gets along well.110 up hill etc.

any help would be great thanks if ya want more power, i have a turbo here off a honda city that might tickle your fancy. its a ihi rhb 31 unit that normally runs 10psi on the honda, so it should have a bit of kick for a suzuki engine (might want to back the boost off a little though)
