Hey guys
I need to put a new seal on the front crank shaft, but I can't get the front pulley off. How do guys get it off?
Also and good ways that you know to remove an alternator pully without the damaging the alternator would be awesome.

Both are on extremely tight.

I was in a pinch and made one out of a piece of 6mm plate with 2 holes in it lining up with pully holes, put a small socket betwen plate and crank and pull up bolts evenly.

My engines Out just now so it twists pretty easily, I'll need to get it on the engine mount first I suppose.
Does it just come of like a normal nut, Is it a revers thread by any chance?

oh the crank bolt? u will prob need a rattle gun 4 that mate.

Haha ok well got one of those but how do I brace it any suggestions, the engines tied to the hoist and resting on the ground.

Standard right hand thread. Where is the motor now?

You need to stop the flywheel from spinning. If you can jam something between the back of the head and the flywheel teeth without damaging anything, that should work.

And you'll need a breaker bar with a pipe extention for the crank bolt, so make sure your jamming device is sturdy.

I put a big screw driver in the fly wheel and lent on a breaker bar. This was while the engine was on the ground.

You can always use a small engine trick to stop it turning.

Remove a spark plug.
Wind piston to top dead and then forward past BDC about halfway to TDC again. (To do a bolt up).
Wind piston past top dead and about halfway to BDC. (To undo a bolt).
Fill the cylinder with a clean rope, leaving an end out.
Wind engine till it locks up.
Undo bolt with whatever tool.
Turn engine a bit to release pressure on rope.
Remove rope, refit spark plug.

I learnt that doing chainsaws...
No extra rope needed, just use the pull cord!!!!
Makes it easy to change rim sprockets.

The robe trick works a treat, once it was loose, it was all done within minute after that. All that's left is to put the engine back in.
