Tried searching but could not find exactly what i was after regarding engine rebuilds.

I am looking for a Suzuki Sierra but a lot of them now have pretty high k's and the engines are a bit tired. I would prefer to buy a zook in vic so as to avoid transport costs, there isn't a huge number of them around like in nsw or qld. I am hoping to look at one on thursday but the engine is a bit old and apparently blows a bit of smoke, its done about 230,000km. I am curious to know a rough price to rebuild a G13A or G13BA, so new bearings, bored/honed etc.

I would be able to give the workshop then engine as sump to rocker cover, nothing else attached for them to machine and would probably buy a master rebuild kit such as the one sold on low range off road so would have to get the machining done first so i know what size pistons, rings, bearings to get.

So what would be the rough price to get a engine disassembled, cleaned, bored and honed with the bottom end assembled and pistons in?

btw: i would rather keep the standard motor in as i want to keep it all fairly road legal otherwise i would investigate the g16b route

Cheers,
jono

Ring suziworld and ask?

Think it was $1000 for a rebuild, parts supplied by them.

About 2 years ago a friend paid about $1400 or so for a full recondition, parts supplied by them, with warranty.

That sounds pretty reasonable. I was thinking to allow about $1500 or so to get it sorted. Not after anything fancy just a standard rebuild.

Rebuild is cheaper, but id go the bit further for the reco.

However, I would go the local you-pull-it and get a low km engine form a barina/swift.

I would prefer pulling a g16b from the wreckers and getting it engineered.
