My point is I want to be in a bit of control when I offroad and I am getting very annoyed when the ESP starts overriding my actions...

All I'm saying is is there a way to disable it during 4WD situations?

I don't really have a problem with the strange braking that happens when I'm on the beach, it's the cutting power when I need it that really shits me off!

If i want to go 4H on a good beach....I would like to do it!!!!!!!

Maybe tricking the sensor to lift the spped at which it turns on?'

My Pajero is the same, any sign of the wheels not doing the same speed it starts braking the slipping wheel and you loose power. Not handy when trying to get a 2tonne+ car up a dune. To correct his I just pulled the brake light fuse. If I owned it I would wire in a switch so I could turn it off. Some people grow up driving older cars on gravel roads and know how to handle them, ESP has its place but you should still have the choice to turn it off.

I haven't tried to feel the difference between the modes.

There are some really good VSC systems out now and also some really bad ones that have had a go at putting me into the trees.
the quickest way to kill TRC or VSC systems when not wanted is eather the fuse like guys have mentioned or the way I do it at work and that is to unplug the loom to the braking system or related systems. This will of course make many pretty lights on the dash. But almost all of the vehicles I have done will reset the next time the vehicle does a system check. Then back to normal for the drive home with the family.
VSC is a great life saving feature when tuned correctly and used in it's operating range. (Not drifting)

Every vehicle is different so i cn't say how it's done. The hardest part about this one it that its speed related, so killing the entire system is the only way i know of.
The brake actuator (that applies the brakes for VSC) will have a wire harness that could be unpluged, or the ABS module. I have pulled realays out also. Depends whatever is easiest to get to when out in the bush. Trial and error with most models, sorry i haven't done any G/V.

One that is even harder of topic is speed sensitive suspension. So when in deep mud everyone puts there adjustable suspension to high mode. But when you give it shit to get through the mud its easy to hit the max speed for the high setting, so the vehicle will drop it down to normal height thinking you are on a road and at risk of a roll over. Not the best for mud.
