The backlash in my mg410 needs adjusting so that means it has the 4.1 ratio wt diffs. I just wanted to know how to adjust the backlash before I pull it to prices. I have done it to other cars before but there are a few different styles. So does it use shims or does it have an adjustment screw? Any help would be great.

If the backlash is enough to need adjusting you will want to replace the carrier bearings too.
Wind the adjuster nut till there is zero backlash.
Wind the other side in to set preload/backlash.

What I did to set the backlash, was mark the top hole with a bit of liquid paper where the retaining / locking nut is. Then count the revolutions on each side of the dial as you undo it. When you do it back up, just a matter of counting the turns. It may not be 100% correct but at least it's the same as what it was when you removed it.
