After all i went though to booty fab up and refil my Air conditioner..

It turns out that the air con compressor is actually no good in the Jimny. The bearings are screwed.
I just got some quotes for genuine new compressor from Suzistore and Suziworld, $1875.00 and $1783.20. or used around $600
Used I've got quotes as low as $250 from wreckers.

Brian nor Mick gave me the part numbers for the compressor, but according to

Its 95200-77GA0, but this manual doesnt have the front cover, the fant belt length on these are different to mine so it's probably a different engine Mine is a 2004 so it should be an M13A, I have no idea if its the same compressor as whatever this parts catalog, it says SN413 V E9 in the corner of most pages.

Getting to the actual point. questions.

Anyone found a better parts catalouge? M13A one?

Generic replacement compressors are under $200.

Anyone got a local (AU) or cheaper international shipping Suppier of suitable after market compressors?
Are they any good or just go second hand genuine?

Go a good second hand one I reckon.

I had a hard time trying to replace the compressor on my sierra a couple of years back and after a LOT of research I found that the main body of the compressor was the same in heaps of different cars and that the only model specific parts were the hose connections and the clutch. My compressor is a Frankenstein job from 3 different compressors. The body is from a barina, the hose connections are from my original one and the clutch is from one I bought of want33's the other day.

Have you pulled it down to see if you can find replacement bearings? They're actually a pretty simple device so unless it's completely seized you might be able to repair it.

I suppose I have nothing to loose by pulling it appart now, problem is I just cant get the parts here at all.

Everything I have to get in from AU, gone are the days of just walking around the wreckers with a tape measure and a set of digital calipers and finding stuff that fits.
I am worried that the internal parts are going to be damaged to by the previous owner running it constantly even though it wasnt working.
He gave me $200 off the price of the car, but it doesnt look like thats going to cover it now..

If the AC wasn't working then any damage was done before it stopped.

just put a generic one in, a compressor is a compressor, all they do is compress either air or in an aircon compressor refrigerant.

something that can happen when your bearings go or it siezes is you might get metal contamination thoughout your aircon system which could require a flush of the system as well as replacement of the compressor, the receiver/drier and the expansion valve.

all a generic one would require would be a bracket to hold it in the right spot for the belt.

maybe go to a automotive aircon place and ask for quote on how much it would be to fix it or replace it with a generic one.

If I gas it up (which I did with my booty fab) it runs and cools well. For about a day.
But every time the compressor kicks in you can actually hear the gas coming out "phish" and it makes a fast and noisy "takatakataka" most of the time.

HA! there is no such thing as an automotive aircon place here. There is not even an exaust shop or an autoelec.
There are a few (commercial) aircon guys, they are the ones that told me to replace it along with the TX valve.

most compressors make that sound just listen to a normal air compressor, you could just have a massive leak, maybe pull it off and have a look at it if the bearing is gone you will know it when you pull it appart

strip it down, you'll tell pretty quickly whats up

Don't discount a leak somewhere else in the system though. If it was losing gas it was probably losing lubricant too which would cause the bearings/other moving parts to pack it in.

On a side note, can anyone tell me off the top of their head if the compressor from a G16 and a J20 is the same mounting arrangement?
