I'm currently rebuilding a g13ba 8 valve and I've come across a little issue with the gasket kit I got. In the kit I've been supplied both an O-ring and a gasket for the distributor housing.

My question is which one should I use, or should I use both? If I use both, the gasket will cover the O-ring which kind of defeats the purpose of the O-ring.

Is the O-ring groove on the mating face or the perpendicular surface?

The O-ring groove is on the same face that the gasket would sit on, you can see the O-ring in the first pic where my finger is pointing

I'd use the o-ring. Don't use both

I'd use the o ring. Baleno's have a similar thing for a cam sensor. Works fine.

If it leaks, you can always use the gasket later!

if its got an o-ring grove go with the o-ring.

They are a major common leak spot here in the states. I would use a nice thin coating of your favorite sealant too.
