Dude search for a post from Highwaystar. There's a mathematical method in there and lots of info into how to set it up pretty darn close.
If you have a read through my build thread there is also a lot of tech in there regarding RUF setup and measurements.

Cheers for that

Dont know why its not in in good tech.

Ive been doing mine graphically, I just havent bothered to get specs on lots of different springs yet.
I've been drawing many up based on info provided to compare each set up. To try and work out what is suitable.

Then apply that theory to my future project.

There proble is some thing wrong but i feel for how much you have to change every thing i carn feel a gain, other than is drive like a pig to and from work. maybe the castor or something is up to shit , spring rate i dont no. For all the changers ive made over the years if feels like the worst one ive done.

Which way did you do it?
What was your shackle length, and how far did you move the shackle mount on the chassis rail?
Whats springs did you use, and how many leaves?
Did you redrill the rear spring hanger?
Did you drill the spring perch and move the diff on the springs?

std 1.3 leaves 4 leaf no didnt drill the rear hanger moved front mounts forward and yes drill the purches and shit. Iam spoa if that makes a difference. I think the shackels are about a inch bigger than std.

Im sure lots of people have been awaiting your response.

so what your saying is you didnt do the RUF properly, your running SPOA with extended shackles and your complaining that it drives like a dog on road?? big surprise

I would still like to know the measurement for chassis extension, and about drilling the perch and relocating the diff.

So I can use the results in my calculations.

My shackle mount is 60mm forward. Chassis mount is the stock position. Perches are stock position.
95mm shackles.

What springs are you planing to use? Spring center-bolt location from the fixed hanger side will determine the overall distance your diff is moved forward.

For the longest off the shelf rear springs (EFS 65mm) that measure 1040mm long, keep your hanger separation at very least 990mm. Try to measure this accurately as even 5mm out will cause shackle issues.

I did mine by flipping and moving the rear mount 35mm back and moving the front 45mm forward. This moved the diff roughly 10mm forward of where it placed with OME 2inch front springs ie just enough room to clear my 30's.

I plated where I extended the chassis first then cut a length of 100x50 box to suit the extension.

Sorry I was asking mrgtt34 again about his chassis extension and what he did to his spring perch.

Im interested because its not the common result

Thanks for answering my question, I now understand why you are unhappy with the results.

I have been searching for a rule of thumb as to the approach to RUF. I was intending to extend everything proportionally, maintaining front end geometry.

I've drawn many RUF setups, and have concluded that on paper JrZook's Lil-Foot is the best ive seen (ive looked at a few, but not all... the information for ruf is scattered high and low).
It keeps the front end geometry proportional. The eye to eye of the ruf is parallel to the eye to eye of the original.
Because of the flipped rear hanger, he followed the profile of the chassis, which meant when the chassis was extended the correct amount the profile of the chassis remained unchanged. This maintained the geometry.

By not changing where the spring perch sits on the spring (i,e. didnt drill the perch), he didnt adjust the castor because moving the diff on the spring forwards or back affects castor because of the camber of the spring.

I didnt see any tech info on this, so I'm assuming he fluked it. Armsup

Effectively with people doing it other ways is getting the geometry all messed up.
If you just extend the chassis and add longer shackles, you reduce castor.
The loss in castor is the same loss as using your new extended shackle on stock springs.

The whole reason I was searching for more info (i didnt start the thread) was to find whats right, and as I suspected I feel the majority are wrong. Its the profile of the chassis which is neglected which affects the whole front end geometry. Currently theres seems to be no proper explanation as to why one is correct.

I was a bit sceptical of everyone saying its great, when I suspect there's clearly a loss of handling.

If someone has more theory again, please provide it. If you wish to provide a rebuttal please provide theory, or atleast something to justify you're argument.

Hopefully we can get to a point where it could become a proper how to ruf, as theres so much stuff on RUF, but nothing concise.

aren't you the same muppet who made all the retarded comments on that turbo GTI sierra for sale ad. i think you should start a build thread, so we can see how awesome your set up is.
