Is this for a 1.3? Why not go a 1.6 and go from there?

Electric supercharging is even better. Leaf blowers are excellent too.

Steve.

In all honesty, turbocharging a g13 is very costly and normally results in broken motors. The turbo is the cheap bit. If you need to ask how much a turbo is, you're not ready to start going down this path. If you can't fabricate, wire, and are good with cars, figure on about $6k.

So lets use that as an example. (and no offence Dave - it might be a great kit, but you've provided no information so I'll speculate for the sake of my argument)

$1200 for the kit.
$800 for a GTI motor?
Fuel system?
Wiring loom?
Engine Management?
Clutch?
Dyno Tuning?

Depending on what's included in the $1200 "kit", and assuming that the turbo itself is in good nick, there's still, what, at least $4K between now a running GTi engined turbo sierra?

What if the GTi motor needs a rebuild?
What if the turbo needs a rebuild?
What if it turns out to need a smaller turbo which requires new piping flanges, dump pipe etc (and this is common- over-turboing is everywhere in "conversions")

Really, it's all a terribly expensive and complex business when it's likely a G16B has plenty of power and torque to fix whatever problem you were trying to fix with the turbo in the first place, unless you really just wanted hektik choof and spool noises.

Steve.

From what i've figured. its when you dont have a blow off valve. so the air goes back through the turbo and flutters as it hits the turbine again.

so basically its the sound of your turbo gradually failing haha.

Tis called turbo surge, where the compressor looses then grabs the air again. Not good at all.
