^^^^^ That's neat. Pretty weird though that the builder of it chose to not join the draw bar to the section of chassis that the suspension is mounted to. Also wouldn't have needed the 2nd story of chassis.

put my trailer over a certified weigh bridge today... 330kgs with one of my chunky tyres as a spare which weigh 34kgs each.

pretty impressed with the overall weight of the trailer.

Mine was 220 without the tent top on.
But I have since added a jockey wheel, shox, jerry can holders and bigger tyres.
So I reckon mine would be a similar weight.

How good are electric trailer brakes ment to be ? My 950 kg dual axle car trailer has electric brakes connected to the 2 front hubs, after sorting the wiring out today, I jacked it up and checked the brakes stopped the wheels which they did. I then took it for a test drive and whilst they did eventually stop the car they werent earth shatteringly great. The trailer was empty and when travelling at 30kph with the auto in drive it took a fair while for the emergency brake lever on the controller to pull the car up. On my old 300kg dolly/trailer they would lock the tyres up on half strength with no wieght on, now on full strength and a 950 kg trailer they are struggling to cope. The drums and pads are used but appear to have some life left.

Cheers Pete, I connected up the brakes on the second axle which makes it better, they work well on axle stands but still not great on road
Looks like I may be up for magnets, drums and pads.

I was disappointed with fuel economy and power,
or lack of both, on the last weekend trip.
So I thought I would weigh the tyres on the trailer, and previous tyres.
I was amazed how much heavier the remould was.
I will stick to the 29's now, not a huge loss of ground clearance,
and trailer still has more than the Vitara .
And Vit spare will still fit, and trailer tyres still fit Vit.
Vitara has 2 of the remoulds, too, so they will be replaced by real tyres when money allows.
That should help overall power and economy.
Can remove the rubber flares, too, as they were trapping mud,
and could lead to rust.
The 29's still fit the track of the Vit, so all good.
High ratio gearing is unlikely to happen,
so lightening the load and rolling resistance should improve high ratio.
No issues in low,
other than too slow for some things.

yeah my INSA's are heavy.... 34kgs, the steel rim in a 15x7 is around 11kgs

As soon as I picked up the remould I could feel the difference.
Lack of balance and knobbly probably adds to the drag, too.
Used the 29's for ages with no issue,
and I got 5 good ones that came with the Vit,
so all will be good.
Probly carry a spare for the trailer on long trips,
but otherwise it will get the Vits spare if needed.
