For under $300 there are plenty of options for a decent body lift kit. For that money you get instructions, all new blocks, high tensile bolts, washers etc. A body lift kit still has to hold the body to the chassis. You think its a good idea to cheap out on incomplete home made junk? Just Cruising sells a Kit, and so will TSOR as of next week. Thats 2 options on AZ alone! Ebay has a few more, and I believe you can get decent ones from yanky land too.

Either save a few weeks and get a kit with full instructions from Just_Cruizin or from TSOR. Just_Cruizin's kits I know come with FULL Step by step instructions as I'm sure TSOR will do when they come online.

Settle down you lot, how tall are the blocks? 1" fits on a vit with stock studs cause they are heaps long
you would probably fit longer on too if you removed some of the rubber mounts, but then it would reduce the lift size anyway

Hopefully I could get some money back on the blocks. Hopefully TSOR can keep a kit aside for me till I can afford it. And help me fit it I dont think i read In the links Royce anythint about crush tubes. Does it?

Now ive looked around at the 2 available bits of info from QLD DOT about this and I see nothing about crush tubes Given its inspected once fitted how would the inspector know and how would you prove it? whats a crush tube going to do? crush tube implies that material around it isnt able to support the weight and needs to be supported to stop it collapsing, so infact poly blocks are useless and the crush tube is doing all the work?

The crush tube is a safety net. Given that under the right conditions, poly COULD ( not WILL!! ) crack, the crush tube would be there to stop the body sinking.
If you do regular checks of your vehicle, you would spot this before it became a problem.
Personally, I wouldn't buy poly blocks without them.
As for the legal side of things, maybe Greg or Bruce could provide some info.

Just finished installing my 2" body lift I got from just_cruizin the other day, the instructions were great! But didn't realize it had to be blue plated, I guess pretty much everything does though these days, will look into getting it done when I get my seats done as well (guess a roll bar as to be as well?). How much does it usually cost?
I ran into a few problems with the transfer case and gearbox not wanting to go into gear. Ended up replacing the gearbox mount as it was totally fucked, that fixed that, and had to cut a notch into the body to get it into low range. Really not too happy about that and I don't understand why some people don't have issues and others would.
The other big issue I had is that one of the body mount bolts snapped off when tightening, seriously I swear I didn't over tighten it! Was only about half tight and just went loose and came out..... still haven't figured out how to fix that yet, thinking I either need to weld a new thread to the body or get another female bolt with a longer thread as there is still a fair bit of the original left
Any advice would be great

As for the legal side of things, maybe Greg or Bruce could provide some info. We all know a sierra can run around sans a mount with no dramas, given the surface area of a cruch tube (what 1.5mm thick, 12mm dia) it would jsut punch through the floor in any circumstance that saw a block fail

I would have thought it's actually just a bushing to stop the hole through the poly flogging out from the bolt through the centre.

And common sense tells me I am right too. But that doesn't mean the law agrees I've only ever used/ sold alloy blocks, so I've never concerned myself with the ins and outs of poly. I still remember Kymbo's boat roller body lift in Gumnut

As for the legal side of things, maybe Greg or Bruce could provide some info. We have tested the material used in the blocks that I make for Just_Cruizin. The size was 200mm x 200mm x25mm thick. It was put under a 200 ton press for 24 hours in Sydney. Other than deflection while under load it all worked. Once the pressure was taken off the poly went back to it's original shape. We have sold the same material used in these blocks to cranes uses to use as their levels for their feet after there was a bad bad bad accident using another material. Don't understimate poly people. JMO I personally would not use Ally blocks not because I sell poly but for the reasons of electrolicious of Ally "V" steel. But that's just my option. I aggree with Peter about, "If you do regular checks of your vehicle, you would spot ANYTHING before it became a problem."

I don't want to start this discussion but I used ally on my BL and applied a very liberal coating of body deadner to either end. After 2 1/2 years I haven't noticed a darn thing wrong with them as far as electrolosis goes. It is a simple case of insulation to fix the problem. JMO though. I am a coily drie after all
