O.K. so I will be asking for some hints tips on what to do & what not to for a decent yet reliable set up for a GV.
1. Best supension height? with or without diff drop?? 2"-3" I think!?!
2, Largest tyre profile ( still looking at saying around 29", but what is the tallest you can get under without butchery?
3, Recommended type/ brand of diff lock?
4, any USEFUL mods you have personally or know of that work well? ( e.g. underbody protection or 2 left cv mods?)

I only want to do this once & I wanna do it right. Having 3kids & now a house to pay for, money will be fairly tight so
fire away even if you think it's not a big deal it just might be worth it!!

2nd battery would be near the top of my list.
Use it to run dvd's or fridge or whatever.

If its a dd i would go airlockers
It it dont have a steel diff get one and manual locking hubs
How hard to u want to drive
If u care about panels and stuff i would say a dobinson lift kit would be all u need
If u dont then the custom stuff starts getting expensive and a lot of mucking round
Dont know about tires maybe 235/85/16 u would have to ask some of the gv owners
Fuel tank skid
Lhs cv mod is good but if ur not pushing to hard i dont think i would bother

Dobinsons 40mm lift with 30mm spacer lift and cam adjuster bolts. Will raise it enough to easily fit 225-75-16 or with a little plastic trimming inside the guards you can fit 245-75-16. (just)

Convert the front diff to a steel one and manual hubs. Front lockright as it now will only get used when offroad and some diff drop brackets to get the CV angles back to tollerable.

Rear air locker (if budget allows) and drop pitman arm bracket.

Dual batteries and a winch.
and if going to larger tyres do a diff gear swap.

Ive done all this to mine (apart from airlocker) and with doing all the work myself have done it for less than $4k

Sweet, good to hear some ideas I had were right direction. Anything else you can think of just keep 'em coming.

Plan I had was 2"suspension with diff drop brackets, have some good steel for skid plates. steel diff seems the way to go from everyone's advice.
winch bar & now maybe I look for 2 lockers not just rear. Now to convince the minister for finance & war...

Steel diff conversion is a go!.

On a side note, my rings bearings & gaskets turned up yesterday & a check of USPS tracking shows the timing chain & oil pump should be here tomoz!!!!!!!
All going according to plan I will be zooking again within a few days, Yeefuggen haa!!

Daily driver as in the car that u need to drive to work tomorrow so u cant thrash it to hard on the weekends

Sweet, will have to get stuck into the more "cost efficient" ones to start with.....

I talked to Tighe cams about a set of cams better bottom end mid range, no worries they say, give us $1600 & your cams!! This was my reply

have to send my second set to Melbourne to Wade who will have a look & promised it won't be the price of my second child!!

You should be able to lift it with a dobinsons or ironman kit and fit cam bolts for under $1000 including a wheel alignment if you do the work yourself.

I do pretty much all of my mechanical work, Doing the engine rebuild now. Will get pics to post & start a build thread I spose...
