Hey guys, got my 96 vit recently. Been doing some work on it latley. I did notice temp guage doesnt work. I've had a look a the spade connector comming off teh thermostat housing, and I gave it a good clean. Still no good.
Am about to pull out the dash and make sure its hooked up . I've noticed they used to have an alarm in this car so some of the wiring has been 'retouched' so I need to trace back the cables etc make sure nothing is cut.
Is there anything I can check over quickly before doing deep diagnosis ont he cabling on this thing.
if you earth the spade connector does the temp gauge show full? if so could be the sensor, if you know which one to the dash it is you could use a multimeter to check the wiring is all connected

Very rare to replace a gauge.

All fixed. Tested the gauge by earthing, it worked fine, this confirmed its all good from the wiring and gauge.
Got some carb cleaner and electrical contact cleaner, Sprayed some of the carb cleaner on the spade, and cleaned the plug with the electrical cleaner. Gave it a good clean (Again!) and hooked it up and its all working fine.
