http://www.uniflow.com.au/contents/en-us/d2.html as I stated elsewhere, MX bikes & Enduro bikes still use them ( foam filters) because they work... Have a gander at the site.

This was the one I meant to copy and paste. http://www.google.com.au/#hl=en&sugexp=cish&gs_nf=1&cp=18&gs_id=21&xhr=t&q=Uni+filter+reviews&pf=p&sclient=psy-ab&oq=Uni+filter+reviews&aq=0&aqi=g1g-bK2&aql=f&gs_l=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=71f669e69490912f&biw=1676&bih=806

I like to ecourage people to search outside AZ for answers sometimes. Since we have not had too many indepth threads regarding the merits or foybles of said product..................

bugger the sock put a pre cleaner head on it visual dirt level check , less cleaning , easier to clean plus great dust trapping

X2 laurie. A much better solution than a sock. Socks weren't a good idea when Safari came up with them in the early 90's, and they aren't a good solution now.

Interestingly, safari tried to use them to damp the horrendous induction noise that 3L diesels (2.8 hilux) used to generate through the snorkel. They weren't very effective at that either.

Oiled foam might (and I say *might*) have a place in motorsport. That doesn't make it appropriate for our use.

Are you really that much noob?

X2 - means multiplied by two, or - "I agree with Laurie"

if you are seriously asking where to get a pre cleaner, on line or at a truck/tractor parts place, or most 4WD stores.

I ran a sock in one of my cars and checked it a few times with cleaning and oiling etc. Then sort of forgot about it for a while. Went to check the air filter one day and most of it was in the air box. The sock had crumbled to almost nothing. Just something to beware of.

Deego, so far you've got two threads with with mostly the same stuff in them.

Quote:
It's only to get mud and shit down to the airbox because it's happens all the time when I 4wd. might just turn my snorkel head around that sounds like the best option.

Quote:
It's just my tyres stick out abit that's why

Quote:
How do do know if your snorkel is working or how can you test it

I've never come across anyone so obsessed by something that was self evident. Your tyres stick out so you are spraying mud all over the place. You don't need a sock, you need flares to cover the tyres and turn the snorkel head around.

you seem to be asking the same question over and over till you get the response you want.

like i said in your other thread. i use the sock. it works great. take off when on road. done.

they are like 30 bucks man. just try it and see for your own, if its not up to what you expect there are other options like the dobsons and internal snorkel filters etc.

heres mine after going to cape york sucking in crud for a week
Image

i still had SOME dust in my air filter (bugger all really), but i am confident the air my engine was digesting was clean. its only to reduce the bulk as much as possible that is going through to the airbox really, not to replace the job of the air filter.

It's not clear a sock will do what the OP wants Scales, which is apparently trap water and mud. My guess is that a sock is for dust.
