Hey Poita, it wil give you more flex as it allows the strut to come down X inches (in a 2 inch kit, its 1.5 inches).

I dont think the Jimny bits lift kit is half baked at all. its proper springs, and new rear shocks. The only thing you dont get are front struts....

Yeah I don't have a problem with the springs and shocks... I do have a problem with the strut extenders.... there is a lot of load on that area and it seems like a dodgy way of getting around spending a couple hundred on decent extended struts. They are super easy to get, Dobinson and OME are 2 that can be obtained easily.

The strut spacer setup doesn't looks as so bad but still no idea how it would effect the handling/safety, so can't comment on that one.

The spacers also stop your strut tops from being captive anymore, if for some reason it comes loose your wheel can fall over and you still die

It also moves a pivot point on the suspension, probably effects something as well

1.5" of extra travel is splitting hairs in real life, but I guess ramp flex is important

I wouldnt get the strut extensions they come apart
Best cheap lift on a vit would be Dobinson front struts and coils and 15mm spacer
Diff drop and strut mount flip
Custom rear springs as im yet to see any rear springs long or stiff enough for a lwb
Tsor uper link a Or spacer on ball joint
Commo shocks
Im also looking into raising lowers on the diff end so they sit level abd same seperation from uper as stock

what do you mean 'if it comes lose you will die'. Do you mean if the strut spacer comes lose?
Technically, wouldn't it just be effectively making the strut a little longer?

If 1.5 inch'es isnt much, why do guys do the strut flip? it wouldn't give any more than 1 inch...surley?

Allow strut to droop further down by that (size of spacer) amount.
But prevent it going up by same amount.
So matching bumpstop extentions needed to prevent strut damage.

So that came out by using the strut extenders (the extra thread piece) , not the strut spacers?

I cant see how the strut spacers pose any sort of real risk, unless they come lose, which could happen with or without the spacers if not tightned properly..

Strut extender should be used as target practice by the biggest baddest arse nuclear bomber in the world and never seen again

Another thing to consider with the strut extender is the material used. Schockie shafts are usually made from 350 Nickel/Chrome plated 20MnV6 normalised steel, or similar. Those strut extenders would be 1020 mi8ld steel at best.

The other concern is that there is now twice as much thread tasked to hold the strut in place. Thats twice the opportunity for thread failure.

I approached fulcrum a while back about this. They were happy to manufacture the bodies for me, but it was going to be dearer than fitting coil overs, so I dropped it.

I know u probably wouldnt get the travel ur chasing but could u fit a coil over in the position of the standard strut? Maybe with an extension into the engine bay providing it doesnt come out of the bonnet?

The top mount would be easy but the bottom mount might require some thought??

I am dealing with Russ from Jimnybits with assorted gear over the past month or so, the vitara 3" lift kit DOES have the option of 3" extended front struts and honestly I can say it works extremely well and flex is great! I can't tell you to go calmini or jimnybits as I haven't fitted nor driven a calmini vitara but I think you will be impressed by the jimnybits kit. I also bought a 3" lift kit for my Jimny which will be fitted next weekend can't wait! Will have for sale a 2" body lift kit brand new in the box for jimny as I got both but after lifting the vitara I don't think I will need it.
