hi have a 89 swb sj50 and after changing to new suspension i still have a sag on the drivers side of around 15mm.dose not sound like much but frustraiting .
thought it could be the stabilizer bar ? any ideas or help would be cool

Pretty common. It is the springs not the sway bar.
Do a search on 'Sierra lean'

cool just did the search and makes me feel better that it is quite common . ill try shifting weight like the battery to the passenger side or get a bigger second battery.

It only gets worse as the springs settle... just live with it.

If u tilt ur head a little or park on a slight side angle you wont notice it

Do u have ur old springs couldn't u just stick another leaf in on that side.

has there been any good remedy to this problem yet? koz if the lean is herpies,then my cars got full blown aids! i got close to a 2" lean (drivers side)

I know it may not be this, and it's a pain in the ass.
Sometimes the front springs for sierras they write on them drivers/passanger.
if not measure them and put the longer one on the drivers side. sometimes they're not the exact same

Yep that is a valid comment did you make sure springs went in right side. They are not longer side to side, the drivers side spring has more arch in it.

My Coily chassis was like that I was pissed till I worked it out

Mines about to get the springs rebuilt, but its sitting almost 4" lower on the right.


Remedy would be moving weight to the left side, but this isn't that simple.
Heavier spring rates on the drivers side will help, be it through thicker leafs or more of them.
More arch in the DS springs will help, but eventually there just going to sag again.

I don't think Sierra chassis are that straight from the factory. They sure do flex a bit on articulation. If the chassis was bent on the one in that pic then I'd say it's only half the problem, I've seen worse Sierra lean on chassis that were fine.

In Snow White I had a standard rear spring in the LH front and a standard rear plus a 2nd leaf in the RH to counter the lean and drivers side load.

Near the firewall behing the pedals the mount was bent down
Near the front of the chassis where the front hanger is located the right was up 3 cm's from the left.

I have measured the springs and the mounts.it apears that the drivers side rear front spring mount is slightly higher than the left.or it could be the left is lower than the right ? who knows .have decided to relocate the main battery to the passenger side tosit next to the second battery.also found taking the spare tire of makes a difference so may relocate the apare to the centre of the tailgate.will see how that goes.
just dont like the idea of different spring rates .

when you consider that the spare wheel,battery steering components plus the driver on one side and nothing on the passenger side its no wonder they sag.the left hand drive version dosnt appear to have the same issue.has to be the wieght on one side.

You would be surprised how many cars have heavier springs on one side.

Mine sits flat, to get it that way I removed the smallest leaf out of the passenger side spring pack. As a bonus it makes passengers look like fat bastards

well spent the weekend moving stuff and it appears to work .wieghed all the stuff (2 batterys,spare tyre ) .so we will see how we go.
